AR10 Barrel on DPMS Upper?

How difficult would it be to put an AR10 barrel on a DPMS style upper?

Ive got a POF lower that needs something on it and I saw some chrome lines barrel assemblies at Armalite that looked interesting.

Well I believe there is an issue putting AR-10 type barrels on DPMS type .308 uppers, but I have read about "people have heard that it has been done." Ask Randall, AR15Barrels. He will know

Your half right. The barrel is compatible but the extensions are not. Your also correct about the diff thread pattern in the uppers, you'll need a compatible barrel nut for the POF/DPMS uppers.

Barrel extensions are compatible as are bolts, just cheak the headspace.
The difference between Armalite and DPMS is in the length of the gas tube and the location of the gas block seat on the barrel.
Armalite are 3/16" longer than DPMS.
If you use an Armalite barrel, use an Armalite gas tube with it.
DPMS barrels use standard AR-15 gas tubes with some extra bend put into them to account for the larger diameter bolt carrier.

That's right I used an Armalite barrel/extension on a DPMS Upper, and we were 3/16" short with a DPMS gas tube... Thanks again Randall...
