Matrix 229 228 frame and slide problem

I completed a matrix 228 kit. For some reason when the hammer is back it will not release the hammer. This only happens with the slide in place. It will drop witg the slide removed .
    Any ideas?
Works fine if t he hammer is down

I am not very familiar with the 228 but it sounds like a disconnector issue.

Does the decocker drop the hammer?

Yes the decocker will drop the hammer.
It's almost like the trigger is hitting the frame. Strange because with the slide off it works. The p228 is the 229. The 229 was the name change when it was made beefy to take the .357 sig round.
I did use a punch to push the firing pin while pulling the trigger you can see the pin go in when about half way down

Part #28 pushes up on part #14 and #13, check that those 2 parts move and are inline.

When I pull the trigger slow with a screw driver on the back of the firing pin it will drop in just before the hammer strikes and pushes the punch out of the way

Now it won't drop the hammer in single action with the slid off 100% of the time. I have taken apart and assembled it 5 times today. I'm doing something wrong

Do you have the hammer strut seated properly. It should press on the pin in the hammer, not the pin that retains the hammer. You can tell if it's seated right by looking at how the strut goes thru the hole in the frame. It should be centered. If it's cocked toward the frame, the strut is resting on the hammer retaining pin.

If the sear disengages correctly and the hammer drops in single action with the slide off, but does not with the slide on, then I suspect that the trigger bar (part #22 in the diagram above) is being pushed down by the slide. If that's the case, that would indicate the slide is not correctly in battery.

With the right-side grip removed and the slide on, does the trigger bar move correctly when you pull the trigger in single-action? Maybe a weak or bent trigger return spring?

I will check this against a 229 this week. I suspect the trigger return spring. Or number 28 in the diagram.
With the slide off no pressure is put on this part. With the slide on number 28 must push on the firing pin block number 13. When I take the slide off and put my finger on number 28 the trigger won't drop the hammer.
I'm just not sure how this part could be out of spec.
I am getting wear on the back of the trigger it's hitting the frame. I am wondering if the trigger hole is not long enough.
I will wait for matrix to respond. I am more inclined to belive in worn out parts more than a bad frame. The detail on this frame is incredibly. I did have the hand sand the back for the grips to fit.

I had the same problem. It required filing the rear of the trigger guard to fix. ie, the trigger was not going back far enough. An easy fix once I figured it out. Good luck.

Matrix thought it was the same thing. I filed a bit off still the samething if I put any pressure on part 28 it won't fire in single action.

After filing the rear of the trigger hole on matrix precision recommendation and cleaning and lubing with the lube that came with my TTT. This will absolutely not fire in single action. Something is wrong with the parts kit or the frame or the jig is out of spec. At work I swapped all the spings with a 229 and then I tried 226 springs. All the same condition. I'm am out of ideas. I'll look for a sig armor and have them diagnos this.
I under stand this is an 80% firearm. It's just that my semi auto sten worked. I have built 20 aks. Adjusted 1911 extractors bobtailed 5 1911s had to fir a handful of triggers to 1911s
I'm not sure what I'm missing with this 228 build.
                          It's frustrating.

                            Hi,

Where do you live? I'm in Chino Hills in SoCal. If you're nearby I'd be glad to take a look at this with you. I have a finished Matrix frame that is working. If need be we can swap your parts into my frame and see if it's your frame or the parts. I also have a ton of Sig parts, so if we find it's a particular part I'll have a replacement for you.

I'm off work today through Monday, so I have plenty of time.
