Do you mean does it help with felt recoil and/or muzzle flip? I don't know. I've read mixed reviews. I bought it mostly for the cool factor and just installed mine.

Or, do you mean the protrusion or cutout or indent (whatever it's called) on the muzzle brake work to initially insert it on to the barrel and slide, e.g., similar to standard bushing insertion at the 4:00 position?

If so, yes. It works like a standard barrel bushing. One must be certain that it is flush before rotating it clockwise to the 6:00 position. And to do that one needs to have that recoil spring plug down BEFORE attaching it in any manner to the firearm. But KCSTOTT can do it otherwise and he knows far more than I.

Please watch the second video. You may find it helpful.

      Thanks,
      Yep

I guess I should use my daughters new gopro and shoot a vid of how I do it

It helps the gun look cool. I'm sure it helps muzzle flip to a degree but it also add a bunch of nose weight. So is it the weight forward design or is it the braking action??? Don't know

kcstott- Would it differ in any material respect from the first video, excepting that you do it with a full length guide rod?

Yes, I was wondering about the benefits of having it on the gun. I have seen comparisons between the true compensators and bushing comps, and know that the ladder doesn't have a lot of baffle surface, and I was just wondering if it is mainly just weight or if the baffles actually help.

I would speculate that at the very least the added weight might help with muzzle flip. Can't comment on felt recoil.

              Much of this is subjective.

This bushing comp is relatively inexpensive and the mixed reviews are necessarily subjective.

I think that most people purchase for the cool factor first, and any reduction in subjective felt recoil or muzzle flip would be icing on the cake.

Yeah I take my gun apart like John Browning designed it to be.

I don't stuff the spring in from the back

Can you post a pic looking at the muzzle so I could see the difference in diameter between the bushing ID and the barrel ID with the slide retracted? Also, if it is not too much trouble, can you post a picture of the top ports?

Hope the below images are responsive. This is the Predator, not Punisher version.

Oh, forgot to retract slide. Will amend this post.

Amended. Another post to follow this one, also.

Thank you. Pictures do help. It is not as open as I thought, which I guess would be a good thing.

FWIW, a recent addition to one of Valkyrie's eBay listings http://www.ebay.com/itm/181743580381...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
                            states the following:

"30%-40% recoil reduction (depending on ammo used)
                            .45 Feels like shooting a 9mm
.38 1911's have been reported as shooting like .22".

Somebody who has never shot their gun could easily believe a 30-40% recoil reduction was achieved because they have no basis for comparison...
