Measure your barrel diameter first. I have one of those on my .223 5r. But for my 308 the brake is smaller diameter than the barrel. I used a JP instead.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Here's an SF Procomp Brake on a SPS-V .308 installed by Randall (AR15Barrels). He threaded the barrel so when the brake is installed it's timed correctly. No crush washers needed.
I think it fits and looks good.

It does work well. But this test says others work better.
This post summarizes the eye-opening results for the massive muzzle brake field test I’ve worked on the past few months. It included several objective tests to quantify the performance of 20+ muzzle brakes designed for precision rifles in 6mm through 30 caliber. My goal with this project was to equip fellow long-range shooters with as ...

My question is why do you need a Muzzle brake on a .308?? especially a heavy barrel .308??

As for your questions anytime a brake needs to be timed to the barrel it makes it a little tougher to do for the average smith. Outside of that it's pull the barrel, chuck it up, thread and install the brake all without scratching the surface.

A brake on a .308 helps you stay on target between shots!! Even with a heavy barrel!!
It's not about needing it. It's about wanting the advantage it provides.

Good reason to stay away from average gunsmiths- great point.
Randall threaded my barrel and set the shoulder so it threaded on perfectly timed in around 30 minutes. Didn't seem tough for him at all even while answering all my questions about the cool stuff in his shop.

I think they have the same profile so it wouldn't surprise me if yours is larger in diameter at the muzzle, being shorter, than mine. I measure my barrel at the muzzle to be .830".

It makes it easier to spot bullet impacts as well as more comfortable for shooting more rounds in a day.

Then how come you can't have a brake in every level of high power competition that the NRA sanctions??

Second when did I ever insinuate that Randal was anything but top notch

With my fat arse behind the rifle it's never been an issue. I don't consider a brake being necessary until the magnum level of cartridges. That and they are not allowed in F Class nor most other high power competition.

Because the old-gaurd NRA shooters are crotchety old whiners.
There's also no NEED for a brake when you have paper targets with pit service and they poke a spotter into your bullet hole after each shot.

The VALUE in muzzle brakes is magnified when you are shooting by yourself, without pit service.
