And then you asked questions about a competitor that may be in California using a questionable piece of equipment.

Besides attracting unwanted attention, you name a specific person, and you may be potentially throwing that person under a bus.
A person that has never meet you nor knows anything about you.

If you are traveling here you don't have many options. 1 is to borrow gear while here. This is why we don't have national matches in CA.

How many calgunners do you spend time with that you didn't already know?

What does that matter? Do people need to be face to face for it to be a community? Its the internet age. A community is a social unit of any size that shares common values. Even an anonymous chat room meets that.
