During FS training. Do people wear it? I assume it not required.
A man's GOT to know his limitations.

Not required. I don't recall ever seeing anyone wearing one.

This isn't a Tactical Response class so you won't need to worry about people shooting at you.

Yes, wear if Tacticool is what you're going for. If you are going for training, then wear as comfortable clothing , gear as possible. It can get really warm quick and freezing. No point in body armor, unless you shoot really well and have a punch knife...

All joking aside. Train like you fight. How often are you wearing body armor around the house, mow the lawn, hitting up a movie, if you live in CA then body armor is cool all the time.

              It's not needed.

People used to in the advanced rifle courses. Back in those days, we had a lot more freedom to so things and people got swept occasionally. I ended up with body armor, but those classes were removed before I got out there with it.

                Which classes were removed?

About the body armor, no real need and it will probably be too hot. I have been in two classes that a ND but they were following the rules and barrels were facing down range when each occurred.

I noticed a big change in the class prerequisite flow chart as it doesn't look like a DG is required in order to take the Tac pistol class!!! They just don't offer it often enough.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

It was Advanced Practical Rifle. It was replaced with Long Gun Tactics. It was a 4 day course and it was awesome. A guy named Kirby ran it and it was probably the best class at FS. After Kirby, Roland Cannon ran it. His class was so much fun and he ran it kind of loosely. So much in fact, he got in trouble for it. A few students emailed Naish and he got demoted as Rangemaster. The advanced rifle curriculum has gone downhill. I don't think FS cares so much as it's primarily a handgun school.

I would recommend staying away from Sellier and Bellot. I know you didn't mention them but if you are price shopping, they are very cheap. I only say that because we (wife and I) went through 2k rounds of it and there were several FTF's. One instructor found several rounds that did not go bang and you could clearly see the pin strikes on the primers but they never discharged.

Agree! The FS handgun focus is too evident. His building plans also reflect that handgun bias. Maybe that is where the demand is . I wonder if he still has any space for a canyon shoot type of course.

I missed out on the 4 day Advanced Practical Rifle courses, but I got into the 2 day Adv Practical Rifle. It was fun, but the range was a major limiting factor as you are limited to a flat range, 180 degree shooting. I don't care for shotguns, so no way I can ever get into the Long Gun class...

What ever happened to Kirby? He was a great asset to FS.

Are the Ammo Club prices a certain percentage off or are they published somewhere? I'd like to know how they compare to ASW.

                                Thanks.
