I expect to see one clove leaf hole for each target you engage.

I plan to be there, looking forward to trying it out (first time).

Is it absurd to try to run these courses with an Aimpoint with no magnifier? I can bring the DMS but I'm a little faster with the Aimpoint.

Have you shot a match before?
Most targets are less than 50 yds. Some people kick butt with irons.

What is required to run one of these courses? I've been shooting the cowboy action matches for quite a while now and would like to try some matches with the "modern" guns. What are the prefered calibers and what general equipment is required? Can I run it with a 1911 and a M1A? Any input would be great.

Carbine classes, but no matches. So I can handle movement, transitions, reloads, engaging targets at a variety of distances, shooting from various positions, etc. Sounds like I'll be fine with the Aimpoint.

We encourage people to start with a handgun match so that they feel comfortable drawing from a holster and transitioning weapons. 3 gun is more for exprienced competitors since we run both weapons hot. But feel free to speak with the MD before the match. Chabot offers many single gun matches.

Carbine, pistol, mags, mag carrier, ammo, sling, holster, eyes, ears. That you have shot single gun matches before. Calibers 9mm and up. 1911 and m1a you would fit right in. But most people shoot AR's and glocks.

                          an I run it with a 1911 and a M1A?
I've seen that setup at 3 gun more than once, and they do very well.
But I'd say 70% of the folks there will be running an AR with either a Glock or a 1911 variant.
The other 30% will probably be a sprinkling of AK47, AK74, Saiga.

Bottom line is, common rifle caliber will be 5.56, 7.62, 5.45.
Common pistol caliber will be 9mm, .40, .45.

Oh, great MrNiceguy showed up. He will probably be shooting some wooden gun with duck tape on the stock and a luger.

I'm not new to running both weapons hot or doing transitions so that shouldn't be a problem, but I'll email Steve to check.
