Dimensions for Shooting Obstacles

Is their an online resource for shooting obstacles like the ones used in the Magpul course, or the VTAC videos on youtube?

I'm not aware of specific templates/measurements out there...

The first pic is of Jim Smith/Spartan Tactical, he calls that his "STAB" system (Spartan Tactical Assault Barricade). He does drills where he calls out different shapes to engage steel through. Believe it or not he will drag them around the country with him (along with his steel) to some of his classes -- you can actually see his trailer in the background of that photo!

The second, if I'm not mistaken, are barricades that the local host of a Magpul class built for the occasion.

Your best bet might be to just grab a big piece of plywood, a saw and go to town!

I think the VTAC design is interesting because the rectangular cutouts are designed to force you to cant your weapon.

Looks like I can just eyeball it then. There can't be anything too scientific about it anyways since in the real world the objects around us are not uniform.

If you start a little on the small side with the cutouts, you can always enlarge them later if you prefer.

Buy Kyle Lambs book "Green Eyes and Black Rifles"
If you are that serious about building the barricades. Kyle has his design in the book. Its what I used to build all four of my barricades.
Additionally, the book is incredible with its depth of information. You would be very hard pressed to find a book that covers that rifle with sooo much detail along with the applications of the rifle.
Loads of pictures to better help you understand what he is talking about.
He has the dimensions for the ports.
The size of the smaller ones DOES matter.
Then you can use his videos to establish drills for them, or modify upon what he has.
Untill you try his 9 hole drill, with switching support to strong sides in-between holes. You will not truly understand what you dont know about shooting the AR series of rifles.
Thats a tough drill.

I additionally designed my legs for the walls to lay flat, so it makes transporting them way easier, and storing them.

On the supporting legs, I have used hinges where they connect to the base runner. This way, they fold flat.

The key to those obsctacles is to find a shooting position you like, then move the cutouts 6 inches lower or higher.
