Looking for a tactical scope?

I just added the ATI stock to my mini-30 and wanted to put a small red dot type scope on it. It would basically be used for plinking and home protection. I dont want to break the bank because i wont use this gun much. How much does one have to spend to buy something just decent? Whats a decent brand? Any help would be appreciated. Come think of it, i dont even know if this gun is legal(CA) now? Thanks for the responses!

As for your rifle's configuration, I am not familiar with ATI stocks, but PLEASE look HERE right away to determine how to keep your rifle legally configured, especially with respect to stocks.
