    ISPC Match Video

I don't know why but I want to share how bad I shot at the last match. This was last weekend at the Richmond Hot Shot's club. Here are the links to youtube.

Does anyone know why the sound doesn't match the video?
    Why and Where I shoot:

Trap - Livermore-Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club

What I Shoot: XD 40, Ported

Good video. Don't worry about it, you didn't break any rules or shoot yourself or the RO's which was me once or twice. Stick with it, its all about practice and planning.

I'm my first year shooting IPSC I was DQ'd for an AD and finished way down the list most of the time. After shooting a few years I've moved up some (I finished towards the top at weekend's match )

It was good shooting with you

Might make it up there for the Sunday classifier match, gf and knee permitting :/

btw, I assume the match was a USPSA match, or did they run it under IPSC rules?

I guess so... I have my new card that says USPSA/IPSC. I used that membership number for the match.

Its USPSA rules, "IPSC" is the Kleenex of Action Pistol. Almost nobody shoots under IPSC rules in the USA.

All the Bali qualification matches are run under IPSC rules, so I thought that maybe someone decided to run some Richmond matches under IPSC rules. Guess that was not the case

YouTube has a wierd sound synch problem. I've noticed it with tons of other videos on there...

Nice videos, though! Action shooting seems to always be a learning experience.

The sound problem actually occured while I was creating the video. I think it happened while saving/formating the video as an mpeg1. Here is what I did.

                    1. DVD into DVD player on my computer.
                    2. Used software to convert DVD movie to mpeg1.
                    3. Used video editing software to create movie.
                    4. Used video editing software to save as mpeg1. This is where the problem started.

The sound sync is really annoying to me. Any ideas?

Your mechanics seems pretty sound judging by the video. The thumbs forward and extension looks good, getting into the gun looks good. I notice you keep the gun extended when you move. That's something I see the cops who shoot action pistol do, would you happen to be LEO?

I would say some adjustments in your mental game, stage prep, and visual patience would take you to the next step. Saul Kirsch has a great book called thinking practical shooting that might be of help if you have not read it.

BTW the vid editting is awesome.

Thank you for the pointers. I didn't notice, even after watching the video, that I was running with the gun extended. I will practice on that. I really need to get smooth in my motions. I just get so excited when I hear "BEEEB!"

There is really nothing wrong with moving with the gun extended. I just notice that cops who shoot action pistol do this a lot. I think they are trained to keep the gun ready in the direction of a threat.

For those of us that are purely competition shooters we can be more selective. You will have to experiment to see what works best for you but here is my fomula.

If I am moving less than 2 steps or less I keep the gun up and extended at the next target. Both hands are on the gun ready to fire, trigger finger is on the trigger.

If I'm moving 6 steps or so I keep both hands on the gun, finger off the trigger but I bend at the elbows and bring the gun in towards my chest. This keeps my center of balence more stable and I punch the gun out one step before I move into postition. Basicly the gun is up and on target a split second before I get to where I need to be. The gun is kept pointed level and down range.

If I got to haul butt greater than 6 steps or if speed is a factor I unmount the gun meaning I take my support hand off, bring the gun in towards my shoulder and pump my support hand to get myself going. The gun is kept pointed level and down range.

Basically the same thing I do, but I lose the support hand every time I haul ***, no matter how many steps it is. I can move smoother and faster with only one hand on the gun, so unless I'm just about to shoot at a target, Im hauling ***

OTOH, I'm unclassified, so take it for what it's worth. (hoping to change that on Sunday though)
