I did the 2 day defensive HG with my son Fri/Sat and it was fun. It was empty, 18 people in our class, maybe because it was hot, dry and windy but I am told it is usually packed his time of year. I can't confirm as I only have been in fall/winter.

My son did great and had a lot of fun but it was a bit stressful with a bunch of beginners and even ccw folks that couldn't perform basic functions even at the end of 2 days + a couple of NDs on malfunction drills. Instructors were occupied on basically the same group for the majority of the time which slowed things down and cut our coaching down a bit.

A couple of guys got their gold stars engraved on things and they announced a new tactical awareness class and that they are hiring.

My son laughed because phones were going of frequently... old guys can't figure out how to silence them and he summed up Pahrump perfectly- depressing.

Johnny's is open and tasty but the pool at SW is closed still.

I would sure like to be making plans for trips in the late summer and through fall. Does anyone have any inside information on when we might see schedules posted? There's normally a full 6 month schedule up. So far, nothing past June....

    When in doubt, keep training

What a sad state of affairs. This looks to be one of the biggest and longest scams in history.

Is helping to pay legal bills what all the Gold status and subsequent emails are/were really all about?

    Iggy writes:

"Whether you are Gold Status or not, whether you have participated previously or not, I want you to NOW "support our IMMEDIATE legal fight" (emphasis added) with a contribution to the highest lever you can afford. Yes, I'm asking for a contribution without providing the usual Exchange In Abundance. Until we are able to defeat our enemies I cannot offer you the usual Exchange in Abundance I have provided you and all the members over the last 25 years. Instead I am asking for you to reciprocate the Exchange in Abundance I have provided you and your family over the last 25 years by contributing to our legal fight to the highest level you can. HOWEVER, I can assure you every dollar you provide will be used toward defeating our enemies and every dollar you provide will be recognized as coming from you for the future Exchange in Abundance I have dreamed for you."

Iggy has been promising BIG NEWS for at least 5 or 6 weeks now. I don't know if I will be able to work, reload, or even get out of bed until I am relieved of the stress of knowing what new FS benefits are raining down on me.

Wait until the Trial in San Diego is over this week and see what the Verdict Amount will be. I expect it should be a fairly big amount.

That is concerning. Usually the schedule for the year has already been posted by now. Maybe real change is occurring at FS.

There is a food truck operating but I didn't try it, just ordered FS lunches in advance which were decent. The instructors acknowledge the current happenings and are concerned but know as much as everyone else on how things will end up. The big bummer was no Fun Gun shoot blamed on ammo shortage. I can kind of understand but was hoping to blow through some Iggy bucks in doing so.

But as a practical matter, the class is mostly about speed of presentation where inherent bullet or rifle accuracy adds little if any.
    Appreciate that. Thank you.

For the Practical Rifle class I'll be using a Springfield St. Victorl chambered for 5.56, 1:8 twist. I can get 1,200 rounds of either 55gr or 62gr. 223 for quite a bit less than 1,000 rounds of 55gr 5.56.

As long as I zero the rifle before class with whatever ammo I end up buying, will I be just fine with the 55gr or 62gr. 223? If so, which would be preferred, 55gr or 62gr?

Did you go to "Competition Mastery" class? The "Handgun Mastery" class is all about the handgun not tactical or competition per se.

I have been to 20+ of those (used to have a yearly membership that gave me all access) and while questions about competitions are answered the emphasis is proficiency with handguns. If you want a class on "splitting the pie" go to Gunsite.
