I'd suggest AllSafe as the next step in your educational progression."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue." ----Sen. Barry Goldwater

Totally Premature. I seriously doubt a new gun owner who has just completed a firearm safety class has the requisite weapons manipulation and movement with firearms skills to safely compete in an IDPA match, particularly one in a confined indoor space.Last edited by OCEquestrian; 12-30-2019, 8:33 PM."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. You'd be surprised. We have people who shoot the match of all skill levels. But if the OP is a new as it seems, I think you are right. Drawing a loaded gun from a holster under time pressure and on the move are skills that do require a fair amount of comfort and familiarity with firearms.Comment

There must be enough confidence, familiarity and muscle memory in manipulating loaded firearms to accomplish the task while the mind is working thru unfamiliar problems under the pressure of the timer and an audience. You'd be surprised. Actually having the correct TRAINING and experience drawing from a holster is a prerequisite if you want to hold a safe match.
Once the OP completes a basic firearms marksmanship / familiarity / shooting class...and he wants to continue the process... it will be time to take a couple basic tactical handgun classes to learn to manipulate, move and fight with his handgun.Last edited by OCEquestrian; 12-31-2019, 1:21 AM."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. The OP's skill level is not such that he will be able to get as much as possible out of one of Scotty's classes yet.Not that far away, worth the effort: https://internationaltactical.com/handgun_1.html"Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.
