Range Bag?

Looking at 2 bags. G.P.S. Handgunner BP or a Midway Competition Range Bag. Anybody have any good input on these bags?

Duhno about that particular Midway bag, but I bought one from them and the quality was underwhelming.

I have four of the Midway bags.

Rifle, pistol, shotgun and rimfire. Big enough to get heavy.

Home depot makes some dang nice range bags reasonably priced too.

I have and use a couple of the Midway bags- super nice but they get really heavy really fast. Also consider the LAPG bags, they are decently priced and I have been beating up on one of thier "bug out bags" for almost a year.

Edit actually they call it a "bail out bag" and its been a really nice bag for taking to the matches. Holds just enough gear without being ridiculous

Get one of these and call it a day. Forget about the Midway bags. They are garbage and won't hold up to a lot of weight and use.

If you're up to your eyeballs in stuff to carry, get a wagon/stroller type deal. Especially for multi gun matches.

For pistol events, just holster it and have a small bag or ammo can. All I carry around is my beverage and can with ammo/mags in it. For rifle, I sling the rifle.

Keep all the cleaning/tools junk in a small surplus sl3 bag in the truck. I've never used it for my own guns (thankfully), but have for others.

The handgunner bag is nice for indoor range trips, not having to mess with a big case(s). It holds 5, right? Fits plenty of junk. Not as convenient as a duffle type bag though for accessing the stuff. Carries much easier as a backpack however, so you can easily pick up a handheld bag.

What kind of shooting do you mostly do? How far from your vehicle do you have to go? Consider these things.

If you always shoot from near the truck, then rubber maids and ammo cans might be better. If you always do indoor pistol, the handgunner bag could prove advantageous. For multi gun matches in large areas, the cart is best.

I have a rolling backpack I take when I go to the pistol range and a modified 3-wheeled jogging stroller for the rifle/trap range.

The backpack works great, lots of space and pockets and you wouldn't know it's a range bag by looking at it. I can usually pack it so full of ammo and accessories it's almost too heavy to lift into the truck!

Fits my individual pistol bags (4), ammo, belts / holsters / mags, eye / ear pro, insulated lunch box and drinks. I also have a sun shade that attaches to the handle which allows for reloading mags in the shade. I know it's not a "bag" but this thing just plain works.

Nice to lock only the box for traveling to and from shooting events.

I've used several different bags from Midway and LAPG in the past and the issue is that they are/get heavy, especially when you add 300+ rounds of ammo to mag holders, holster, mag loader, brass bag, hearing protection, squib rod, and pistol pouch...to say nothing of drinks, snacks, and sunscreen.

Assuming you aren't packing the kitchen sink, you could take a look at flight bags. They are usually rugged enough while being fairly light in weight

The ridgid boxes mrboma posted are legit for moving and storing things. I have several for storage and transport purposes at this time. Both wheeled one and its smaller non-wheeled siblings.

I have a Shooters Connection, Dillon, Home Depot, Lowes and a Midway bag. I regret buying the Midway bag.

I've been using the Dillon Range Bag for many years. Very durable.

I have two of the Midway competition range bags. They're fine and seem well-made to me, although the rolling luggage options seem interesting.

I'm bewildered by all the criticisms that the bags "get heavy". It only gets as heavy as all the crap you choose to put in it.

I have been using a Midway bag and take it out at least weekly for 5 years. I am really pleased with it for $40 or whatever it was. Sure it gets heavy when I have three handguns, and 400 rounds of ammo, and all the usual gear. That's why it includes a shoulder strap. If you want it lighter, take your 22 instead of your 1911.
