If you want to make a quick $25 profit I'll give you $75 for it. I think I have most parts to complete it. PM me if you want to sell it.

Thanks, I'll hang on to it. I'll get it running eventually.

I'd repair it now if I were you. You spent $50, and it's gone for nothing. Spend the money to get a running 550b and start reloading and you'll be saving money.
The more rounds you load, the less your press "cost" you, so the sooner you start, the sooner you benefit!==================

By the way, if are going to buy a handle, might as well look into the roller handle instead of the ball handle.==================

Don't buy the DVD, there is a guy who made some videos on youtube from setup to usage. All you really need is the manual, which I think you can download from Dillon.==================

An even better choice would be to get the Inline Fabrication Ergo Handle http://inlinefabrication.com/collect...cts/dillon-550

Wow. Unless you have a bunch of extra Dillon parts around the garage - maybe this wasn't such a great idea as others have pointed out.
http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/con...0_Basic_Loader - that's $259.95 on Dillon's site.
http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/con...atid/1/RL_550B - that's $439.95 on Dillon's site.
I think the advice to send it in, get the $50 credit or whatever Dillon will give you - and chalk it up to lesson's learned.
I have two 550B's - love 'em. I absolutely made the right decision on those - thanks to Randall's (AR15Barrels) original tutelage.
You're in good hands here - I want to know how this story ends.

Looks to me like the parts that you got are new, or unused. Could be that the previously owner was planning to do a frame update on an earlier Dillion Press.
I have a Dillion 450 that my Uncle gave me, and I was planning on doing a frame update myself. The 550 frame that you have consists of the parts you'd need to update a Dillion 450 to a Dillion 550.
You don't necessarily need to build all the 550B features as you assemble the press initally. Primer warning system, powder check, etc...
And you can save money by buying the missing parts to restore the existing primer system, instead buying a replacement primer system. Looks like you're missing a few small parts. I don't know why they would suggest replacing the primer system, unless there's been some changes since the 550 primer system came out. I've got the original 450 primer system, and the update to the 550 primer system. I know that the primer system for the Square Deal and the powder system were redesigned, and people that bought the Original Square Deal got a both the redesigned primer and powder systems from Dillion for no charge.
Looks like some people are saying that there's only a $100 difference for you between buying a new 550B, and fixing the one you already have.
As I wrote above, I was thinking about doing the 550 frame upgrade to my 450, and that would cost me $100. If you decide to buy a new 550, instead of fixing yours, I'd give you $100 for your 550, since that's what I'm going to spend anyway.Comment

$100 that is pretty generous. I don't see how the op will rebuild his 550 for less than buying a brand new 550. You can forget about eBay, prices for Dillon are close to retail. It's kind of like trying to build a car with parts from the parts department at a dealership, much cheaper to buy a whole car.Comment

What happened to Dillon's NO BS warranty? How come Mike Dillon isn't honoring it ? I had a couple issues when I contacted CS; most of the time they would send out free parts. One time I did talk to Mike & he said ' I don't care if you found it in the dump, Ill fix it to make it work, for free' Wish I recorded it. If I were you I'd call & ask to talk to the President ( Mike Dillon) & call him out. Might just get it fixed on Mike's dime.Last edited by zoid52; 01-25-2015, 7:57 AM.CALIFORNIA-IF THERES NOT A LAW AGAINST IT THERES A TAX ON ITComment

That's crazy that all the small parts added up so quickly. Still I would NOT sell the press. Offering a $100?!? Seriously?. Nowhere ever are you going to pick up the frame for that low a price. Keep it and wait.
50 dollars is a super low investment- I'd slowly try and piece the parts via eBay, Craiglist, and the other gun forums. Dillon accessory prices are always on the high side but even with their estimate it's not the worst deal out there. The press looks unused and the total cost is still lower than if u had bought it new.
The trick now is to know what you really need. You have time on your side so print out the PDFs and make a list of what's essential. My offer to help is still there so feel free to PM if you need pics or have any questions.
As for Dillion's no BS warranty. I know they will honor items that are legitimately busted.. They've sent me free stuff in the past. but in the case of missing items that's a bit of a stretch. Some people have legendary stories of how dillon totally took care of them - which is pretty awesome. But at the same time Im not going to expect a free powder measure because a used press I purchased didn't come with it. If you're going to be unreasonable then at some point the policy is going to be changed- or simply put, "this is the reason why we can't have nice ****"Last edited by Voo; 01-25-2015, 9:53 AM.Aloha snackbar!Comment

Like I wrote before, I don't think that the OP bought a complete/original working Dillion 550 or 550B, looks more like a unfinished project to me.
I don't see how Dillion should be expected to build every unfinished fame that is out there into a compete, working loader for free.
Yes, if an original and complete loader stops working, I would expect the No BS Warranty to be in effect. But no warranty (free parts and labor) on an incomplete parts project of questionable heritage.Comment

I would never expect them to replace a missing powder measure or caliber exchange set.
There have been folks...not say you are...who have tried to get extra parts to avoid buying a caliber exchange. That kind of behavior is what is hurting all the folks who are having legitimate issues with worn out parts.
The great condition of your press isn't helping your cause....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

I agree with this. Otherwise folks would just strip off all the parts and sell them and expect Dillon to replace them for free.Like I wrote before, I don't think that the OP bought a complete/original working Dillion 550 or 550B, looks more like a unfinished project to me.

Dillion's posted price for a 450 to 550 frame upgrade is/was $94.XX (plus shipping). A frame upgrade is exactly that, the parts necessary to install the 550 frame on a working 450 loader (giving the 450 Owner the quick caliber change that he/she doesn't have now). The Frame Upgrade does not include the 550B primer system, or the 550B powder measure, or primer and/or powder check assemblies (which are all priced separately). The Dillion 450 to 550 Frame Upgrade includes less parts than the OP has, but I don't expect Dillion would offer the OP even $100 for what he has against a new 550. I already have the 550B primer and powder systems with primer check. the only upgrade I don't have on my 450 is the 550 Frame Upgrade.Comment
