So, ahh, just to be clear here:
- You have a 9mm 1911.
- You are loading with range pickup brass of unknown origin, potentially brass that has been through an open division 9mm Major gun.
- You use a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die *before* the Carbide Sizing Die.
- Some of these reloads don't feed in your gun
Two questions:
1. What does the brass measure in OD at the bulge:
(a) before you do anything?
(b) after you run it through the Sizing Die (not the Factory Crimp Die, just humor me and do it in the "right" order)?
(c) after you load it and run it through the Factory Crimp Die as the *last* step?
2. Take a round that failed to feed, remove your barrel from the gun, and see if it passes the "plunk" test. (i.e. If you drop the round in the barrel, does it make a "plunk" sound, drop fully into the chamber and can it be rotated with light finger pressure, or does it not drop in and/or not rotate?)
I could be totally off here, but unless your barrel has a very tight chamber I suspect the issue is something other than the bulge. Likely suspects are brass length and bullet profile/seating depth/OAL.
