    Lee Precision Customer Service....

    As good as any.....

I had a couple of VERY old powder hoppers on my Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measures that need to be replaced, and they sent me a couple of replacements for free. No hassle, no problem. I went to their web page, sent an email and attached a pic, and they sent them right out.

I've been running a Lee Pro 1000 since 1995 or so to fuel my IPSC needs, and back then the whole set-up cost $104 delivered and ready to load. I figured that once I learned how to reload and wore it out, I'd graduate to something "good", because EVERYONE told me Lee stuff was crap.

Well, ~20 years and literally 10's of thousands of 45acp loads later, I finally wore some Lee equipment out (ok, ok - I used up a couple of primer trays along the way as well, but Lee replaced them, too!).

Talk about bang for the buck.

I hear lots of negative from folks where Lee is concerned but they have never dodged any issue (very few) that I might have asked about...I use almost all Lee and have for a long time...I had a resizing die that was at the top of the diameter spec for sizing and I was using R/P brass which is almost always at the lower end of wall thickness...I sent the die and some of the random brass that I was trying to use and not a question at all..new die came back...no charge, no postage and no "ducking the issue"...just made things right..the problem was as much R/P brass as their die...but they just went ahead and replaced it...
God and the Constitution give me my rights and actions...any other input is just blabbering.

I'm glad that you guys started this thread. I have used Lee stuff for years and I have had to contact customer service a few times, not much but a few. In the beginning of my time with Lee products (circa 1982 or there abouts) the customer service was top notch. No hassles, no pains.

Then, through the intervening years I have heard of and seen the customer service fluctuate. I won't speculate about the causes, that would be arm chair quarterbacking.

Last week I sent some money to Lee for a custom crimp die. Yesterday they called me back and spent 20-30 minutes on the phone with me discussing my cast bullet diameter, brass thickness, etc, to make sure that I was getting what I wanted. All of that for a $30 order.

Before we hung up I asked if I could discuss an issue I was having with a new mold. I was politely put on hold and the phone was answered by one of Richard Lee's sons! He heard my concerns and told me to ship it back with his name on it. And that he would personally see to my problem. For a $20 mold?!!

Lee is back, I am proud to own and use 4 Lee presses, 22 Lee molds, Lee dies in 17 calibers, and a ton of other stuff.

I have also heard a bunch of crap about LEE products. When I started reloading just over two years ago, I ran into others that said I should have bought this or that. Hell, I don't make seven figures a year (that would be nice) to buy what those others recommended. LEE has not once let me down. I only load various rifle calibers at this time. Was reloading yesterday 7.62X39. I just load 1 at a time. Why? Because I like to be exact on my measurements when reloading. The measurements are 36-24-36 in my dreams. GO LEE!

I've also heard a lot of negative stuff about Lee and I have no idea why. I use their dies in various calibers and I have their Auto Disk Pro and I couldn't be happier with them. I will continue to use/buy Lee products despite all the negative things I hear.

My guess for the bad mouthing comes from guys that really believe you get what you pay for. So they look at a Lee die set that is $30 and then at their Redding or RCBS that is easily twice as much. And they can't believe it can do the same job at that price. Same with the molds, presses, priming tools, the whole game. They suspect they got somewhat taken, buying the expensive tools, so justify their purchase by running down Lee. Porsche owners are famous for this, can't accept a Vette or some Mustangs will blow their doors off at half the price.

Then all the noobs that decide to give reloading a try, buy Lee because they're not sure if they want to drop $500+ on the other guys tools. And because they're noobs, don't really have a clue about some of the issues with reloading and blame the equipment. I'm 98% Lee, and have never had to contact them about any kind of problems in 20+ years.

I load my match ammo on a lee classic throw powder with a lee perfect powder and have 0 issues. The powder measurer I top off ever 25 rounds and it throws +/-.1

Once I set my dies I never have to adjust it and I'm good. I set my 308 ay 2.11 dto the press hits it 2.11xxx every time. Some of their stuff may be a bit rougher and doesn't look as good but my only complaint is I got a single stage lol. 800 45acp....

I've been very happy with my Lee classic cast turret press, pro auto disk, perfect powder measure and dies. I haven't had a problem with any of them that I didn't create myself. It's good to hear that their customer service has gotten much better. Hopefully it will be many years before I have to contact them.

Bought the power quick trim a couple of weeks ago. Mounted it on my Makita impact drill and started trimming 9mm brass to 9x18 mak. I managed to trim around 150 rounds before the hex shank got rounded off.
Sent Lee an email with pics, called them last monday to follow up, and a nice old lady answered the phone, and after looking at the pics I sent said she'll send me a replacement right away. But before hanging up, she asked me to hold on and speak with Peter, one of the tech guys. Peter was also nice and coach me the proper way to use the power quick trim, - needs to be used on drills with low rpm otherwise the hex shank will get rounded due to stress from high rpm drills.
I wanted to comment that maybe the hex shank were made in china, that the steel was soft. But since he also mentioned he and the nice lady both said they'll mail the replacement that same day, I decided to just kept quiet and thank them for the quick and nice service.

I recently had a bad #4 shell holder. I measured it inside and out. Called up LEE and explained to them that I believed it was a factory defect. LEE sent me another shell holder at no charge. About 4 days later it arrived and I was back in business.

Nothing crazy... But I had 2 depriming rods break on 2 sets of my Lee's classic kits.

Emailed them my request. They called me next day to confirm calibers. BOOM... Three days later delivered.

When I finally pony up to do the real deal, you'd better believe I'm starting up with Lee's...

My first press was a Lee 4 hole turret press and am very happy with it. I have around 12 Lee dies and a Lee priming tool all work as they should. If Lee made a less finicky progressive press I wouldn't have had to but a Dillon XL650. Still bang for your buck go with Lee.

I am glad you have had good service.
I did not the several times I called/mailed them.
They said I had to have receipts and send them the old part on "Lifetime" warr items. I do not keep my receipts and the "warr" on the product says nothing about requiring a receipt. All for a $5 item. What the Heck! Cheaper just to buy another.
Another time(actually more than once) they flat said they would do nothing. My mistake----They did say they would sell me another at full price.
                          Great service???

NEVER had that with RCBS or Hornady----Even Dillon. Just a call and replacement send . They even sent extras in the case of deprimer pins/stems.
Hornady replaced a complete die that was old and messed up even after telling them I got it used and I did not have to return the old one.

So I will continue to bash Lee service and rightly so.

I am glad that some of you got better service.

When I first got into reloading, I did my research. Looked at all the brands along with the cost benefit analysis...as well as with personal (knowing they's be subjective) reviews.

I settled on Lee, thinking that when I outgrew or needed "better" (as I was foolishly thinking better was/is more expensive).

Simply put, I can't say enough POSITIVE things about LEE. Quality of components, functional usability, cost, excellent customer service and overall reliability. For the things that do eventually fail...customer service has been amazing.

I even tried "better" (again, subjective, but definitely more expensive) stuff and have consistently returned to Lee. I wanted to confirm for myself that more expensive did or did not give me any better results or perform in such a way to justify the cost delta.

Proud Lee owner and my shop is red.

Count another guy with an excellent customer service experience with LEE. I too bought a LEE Classic Turret as a way to get started, this was after I got back home from Iraq in 2009. The post election ammo stortage was in full swing and that was enough to finally bump me into reloading.

I loaded several thousand rounds of 45 ACP before adding .223. At one point I was experimenting with reloading Tula steel, just because I could. I got sloppy and must have ran a dirty steel case into the resizing die and actually scratched it inside, which I discovered the next time I ran brass in there.

When I called to order just a standard sizing die the woman that answered the phone refused to let me pay for it. I told her it was my fault and not a problem with the product but she said no, we'll just send you another and an envelope to send us back the damaged die. I assume they wanted to see the die so they could see what I did to it... Anyway, I had the die in hand a few days later.

I'm still loading on that press, 45 ACP, .223, 38/357, .308, 9mm, 380 ACP, and 6.8 SPC, around 7000 - 7500 rounds total now. I'm considering adding a progressive press at this point.
