So those are the new RNNP bullets? My Hornady seater puts a little ring on top of each bullet (45ACP), but nowhere near the deformation you're having. Quite interesting, I've never seen that kind of deformation, but then again I've only started reloading since June.

I loaded to 1.150 and this is what I got. Bullet on the left in the photos is same one from previous picture, bullet on right is the one loaded to 1.150. Nipple has lost a lot of it's puff but is still there.

Anyone want to trade 1900 or so of their 115 or 124 grain bullets for same amount of shiny new 147 grains?

I run lee seater dies on my dillion they kinda help to center the boolit.
Also are very forgiving to boolit style and are only about $20 from titan relaoding.

or can try a diferent seater die/ or take out the seater thingy and drill the end larger to fit around the outer area of the boolit not just the center?

To the OP, since you are using Dillon dies, have you called them? It's free and they are very helpful.

Do you have any other brands of dies you can test with?

The latest Speer manual has 147gr at 1.130.

LEE will make a custom seating die insert for a whopping $8 but you have to use LEE dies. My Dillon always ran with LEE die sets just fine.

Usual fix is to open up the cavity and form a new seat with a dab of JB weld.
However, perhap dillon dies are different?

It's not the seater unless it does the same thing on jacketed bullets. Try a different sizer or buy a Hornady New Dimension sizer plated bullets.

When I use my Dillon to load Xtreme 115 and 124s I had similar problems but not half as bad. I now use Hornady and have no issues. In fact with my own improvements added the ammo loaded is as close to factory as can be.

Sure it is the seater nose pin or punch, your choice as to nomenclature, that is marking the bullet.
what else touches the bullet nose?

Yes, I definitely think it's the fact that the bullet profile is skinnier than the seater, as well as the tension, that is causing the seater to imprint the nipple on it.

All of this was just an experiment...which I'm ready to abandon
XTreme bullets has been kind enough to allow me to exchange for a different grain bullet so I think I'll just leave this whole 147 grain sillyness behind me. If I was going to invest further effort in trying to get them to work, my next step would have been to try it with some Lee dies instead.
