    9mm Titegroup & CFE Pistol

I finally got a chance today to shoot my reloads out of the Glock 34. These are just my thoughts so please don't bash for not having a chrony Again I am new to reloading, 3 months max.

50 rounds of each were loaded:

    Titegroup
    Berry's 124gr round nose
    mixed brass
4.0-4.1 grains (previously tested 3.7grains and gun did not cycle)
    COL 1.15
    CCI #500

    CFE Pistol
    Berry's 124gr round nose
    mixed brass
    5.3 grains
    COL 1.15
    CCI #500

Both shot well from 7yrds to 10 yrds and groups were pretty tight. Less recoil versus shooting factory rounds and target acquisition was much faster because of it. I even did single hand (strong then weak) shots and again with less felt recoil, groups stayed within my expectations.

The biggest difference I noticed was during powder dispensing. My reloading setup is a Lee Classic Turret, Lee Ultimate 4 Die Setup, and Lee Pro Auto-Disk. While setting up both powders, I noticed that the CFE Pistol powder was more consistent with a .1 +/- difference versus the Titegroup at .2 +/- difference. I feel that with my powder thrower, the CFE Pistol stays more consistent, to those who have a similar setup.

I did not get a chance to determine if the CFE Pistol burned cleaner than Titegroup because I used both. However, I just loaded 100 rounds of the CFE Pistol setup and will report back on barrel cleanliness. Although I'm a clean freak, white glove cleaning after each range trip, it might not be noticeable.

I am also planning on reloading 45acp and want to use both Titegroup and CFE Pistol. Any suggestions on projectile brand (185gr/200gr) and load data for both? I've been really eyeing SWC projectiles but don't know how it will handle from a RIA 1911 Match 5". Also suggestions on 9mm projectiles for the Glock34.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the write-up. I use Titegroup mostly, and just got hold of 5lbs. of CFE Pistol. I haven't loaded anything yet, and am pleased to know it meters well. I run 230 plated Xtremes and am now going to try some 200's in the 1911's. Sorry, can't help with the Glock.

Let me know what you work up with the 200gr 45acp because I will be getting my RIA 1911 this weekend. I plan on getting some xtremes but have heard/read mixed feelings about it. Looked at some MG but price is too high for me at this time.

Hodgdon has load data for CFE Pistol now and has come in handy.

Getting a friend into reloading. Worked up a ladder of CFE Pistol for 45 ACP.
        200 grn x-treme plated RN, 1.230 OAL
        15 rnds @ 6.3 grns
        15 rnds @ 6.5 grns
        20 rnds @ 6.7 grns
        Primers - Federal 150 LPP
        Brass - Federal

He shoots a Kimber match grade 1911 and was very pleased with loads. I was unable to make the range trip. Probably roll with the 6.5 load, I'm thinkin my Sig P 220 would gobble those up...

Strange, I've used Titegroup in a similar setup, and I get consistently +/- 0.1 grains, with most staying true. I zero out and measure every round and found it to be as consistent as HP38.

I'd like to find that "missing" bottle. I am having to settle for 4227, not the worst alternative.
