    Xtreme vs. Berry's plated RN

My load for .45 ACP has been

    5.1 grains HP38
    Berry's 230 grain plated RN
    Winchester LPP
    1.200 COAL

I recently bought Xtreme 230 grain RN and loaded them over the same recipe. In back to back comparison with the Berry's load, accuracy was much worse with the Xtremes.

Figured it would be worth a shot but looks like I'm going to need to work up a load.

Is anyone having success using Berry's and Xtremes interchangeably?

I do not care for Berry's. I have been able to swap out powerbond for Xtreme though and even PC Lead but to me, the weight is the weight and plated vs plated should be the same.

Try that same load with the exception of using a 230 cast bullet instead of a plated bullet and see what happens.

I already do that. I have PC cast bullets that I use interchangably with plated rounds. I have not really notice any difference.

I use the extreme 230 gr plated over 4.7 grs of 700X
I also use the same bullets over 5.5 grs of 231
they are plenty accurate out of my Hardballer
          I seat them to 1.265

1.200 is too short for xtreme imho. The leading edge of the brass would be over the bullet shoulder at that point? My oal is 1.253. Accuracy is good, but not stunning.

I load the 230 at 1.260, and have used both bullets. I feel the Xtreme has a better plating, as I have had Berry's wrinkle when seated in a case that wasn't widely expanded at the mouth, where the Xtremes seat perfect with minimal case mouth expansion. They both shoot accurately for me, I think you may be getting too much of a jump to the rifling at 1.200".
