    Where to buy 30-06 Brass?

Can someone give me a recommendation on where to purchase once fired 30-06 brass. The brass I've been reusing for my M1 is almost at the end of it's life. I've been told either Lake City or HXP will work. I've searched on Amazon and have read mixed reviews about the quality and source of the brass. I'm also not sure what a good price is either. Thanks in advance!

Keep checking the marketplace above in this forum, 3 days ago I got 740 for $80 and 3 weeks before that I found about 400 for about .17 cents each.... If I see it for under .20 cents ea I will usually snag it. Gun shows have been around $20-$25 per 100.

What about buying HXP ammo from the CMP? You get good quality ammo and the good brass you're looking for. It comes 200 rounds in a 30 caliber ammo can for about .65 cents per round shipped.

How many times has the brass been reloaded?A pick can be made from a unfolded paper clip, with a 90degree bend at one end sharpened to a point.Do this and you can feel the inside of brass for any possible case head separations,if the pick stops in a crack throw away the brass.

Just a few minutes ago I purchased another 500 rounds of new unfired .30-06 Springfield brass here: http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/...roductId/12634

Is it any good? Just as good as any commercial brass, although it generally runs a tad heavier, similar to military brass. I do not use any once-fired or used brass, ever. Some of my most accurate loads are made up with Privi brass. Neck thickness and concentricity are very good.

This batch of .30-06 Springfield will be formed into .25-06 Remington using two trim dies (280 Remington, .25-06 Remington) and the .25-06 Remington F.L. set. All dies are RCBS. The Privi brass will also be used in all three of my .30-06 rifles. I also use their .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, and .308 Winchester brass, good stuff.

                          This sounds interesting.

Can you post some pics of this process, if you don't mind?

Interesting, the 280 Remington trim die is too long to trim a 30/06 case, I would suggest a 270 trim die over the 280 trim die. I would suggest every reloader that has a plan for forming cases to purchase a 308 W form trim die and a 273 W trim die. Problem, there are no instructions, the case former has to know what they are doing first.

then there is the going from 308 to .250, does not seem fair, when I get to .243 I have to deal with 'the dreaded donut', problem for me? No. I form donuts, when I form donuts I deal with them.

Then there is the shoulder of the 280 Remington, it is .051" ahead of the 30/06, again, I suggest the 270 forming die, but if a case forming reloader had one forming die I would suggest the 308 W forming/trim die and if they had two I would suggest the second one be the 243 Winchester forming die. Between the two forming dies I have the 243 reamer die with the reamer.

Mil .30-06 is quite variable. HXP and LC is good but you should stick to year lots. Win is good, very consistent. Lapua is excellent and available and also has very good neck consistency.
