    30 cal silver tip bullets

So I have a bunch of my great grandfathers hunting stuff am I came across these. They are 150gr 30 cal bullets. I was wondering if that's really silver in the tip. I have it next to a Remington bronze tip for comparison.

Okay. And I think you should proceed with caution sir.

I do not know why they would use real silver in the tip. I would think more tin/lead/pewter/alloy of some sort. You got some werewolf problems?

No idea if it is or not, but it looks cool. Clean the bullet up with some Nevr-Dull and it will look awesome.

Due to the fact that silver tarnishes, I would have to say no they are not real silver.

ive hunted deer and moose with the old 180 gr winchester silvertips.
they are discontinued and made of aluminum with a lead core.

Can't be aluminum, it HAS to be silver!!! There were some pretty big Werewolves back in Grandpa's days. Better keep 'em, Werewolves might not be extinct, they might just be laying low. I know this, I saw it in the Underworld movies. Oh, and I also want to mention that Kate Beckinsale from Underworld wants me and she, along with Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel want to stalk me.

Good to know. How do they perform on game? Are they worth loading up or just keep in the box for a rainy day.

They work well. I shot a very nice 3X4 Black tail using a 30 cal.,180 grain Silvertip. I loaded the bullet into a 308 Winchester case and shot the ammo out of a Remington 18" Model 600. Velocity was probably around 2400 FPS.

The Deer ran about 30 yards and piled up. When I butchered the Deer, I found the bullet. It mushroomed about to the first 1/3 of the shank. It did it's job nicely.
