    Sounds crazy but you have an excellent set of tools right at the end of your arm. Your fingers can feel for the flare.       Hmmmmm. If I have Diabeateauis and my fingertips are numb does that still work?

        Probably not. You can close the thick part of your caliper around the case mouth & eyeball with a white background. If there's flare left you can easily see daylight behind the mouth. With .45ACP I look for flat or just the slightest bit of taper crimp. With the straightedge of the jaws it's not hard to see.

        9mm is a little harder because it's a tapered case. Again, the straight edge of the jaws will help see exactly what's going on. I usually figure if I can actually SEE the taper it's probably too much.

        I R old & blind so I use a set of magnifiers from Harbor Freight while doing this.

          I looked at mine today after making 40 ladder loads with PP.

          I think I have 1/32nd of a pinch of shavings...
