        I would like to keep this in the OC to Long Beach area. The intention of this meeting is to possibly bring Long Beach and OC under one banner for a while. Now since a member is a member state wide LA, Inland Empire any area is welcome to attend. I would lime to see surrounding areas begin to hold their own events. This will take some time to get going. Our clubs need to be more than roving reloading classes. The possibilities are near endless. I will be clarify in a few things. Making an announcement or a few. Setting forth a plan for the future beyond reloading classes. So if out lying areas want to attend, Great. They will know first hand. Then let's get meetings scheduled in the other chapters. After all that is one of the things real clubs do.

            Count me in as well. Oh, there is also a Tilted Kilt in Long Beach, on PCH near Second St., just across the O.C. County line, if that is any help.

                How busy is their patio on Sundays? Heck do they have a Patio? Inside would be too noisy or we would be bothering the others there. Any chance you could swing by and see?

                  LBC IN THE HOUSE!!!

                  I second the Tilted Kilt on PCH, but only because it's closer to me. I haven't been there yet, but the reviews are good.

                  8/3/2014 is good for me too. Any time is a good time for me on a Sunday. I definitely want to stay active in the club, and am anxious to hear the new developments.

                  I agree that it's time to elect a leadership and am willing to be a part of it if the consensus allows. I would also like to volunteer for the team to plan/organize the next clinic/workshop.

                  I also agree we should expand out with other planned events/activities. I think the possibilities are huge to what we can achieve, especially with BB at the helm. Unfortunately, I also see the practical aspect of merging with the OC chapter the best idea for the club for the time being. I think the turn-out is getting stale having two separate clubs. Maybe re branding it the S.LA/OC reloading club would be better until participation improves.

                  Regardless, I will be there. What do you all think?

                    I will stop in this weekend and take a look. Rough estimate of how many people?

                      I would like to attend, but a 45 minute drive to LBC would not be doable for me...

                        There is also an Acapulco restaurant in the Marina Pacifica shopping center on PCH in Long Beach (right across the street from Tilted Kilt). It has been a few years since I have been in, but if memory serves me they have an upstairs meeting/banquet room. That might work as well.

                        I guess the $64 question for any restaurant (besides how much food & drink can be sold to the group) is what the group plans to do in using the room/space. If it is just a "meeting" or a discussion group, that is one thing. If it is clinic or workshop with equipment that is actually being used (especially reloading equipment and the related components ... read: gun powder, bullets, casings and loaded ammo), then I can see some real issues from a liability and insurance standpoint.

                        So, is this going to be, (1) a general meeting-discussion, or (2) show-n-tell with examples of some equipment present, or (3) a hands-on clinic or workshop with live ammo. being produced? If it is no. 3, then getting the OK to do it in a public place, like a restaurant might be problematic.

                          The $32 answer is general meeting. A state of the club so to say. Where do we want to go from here. Scheduling out events. Assembling an elected team of leaders. This is a must for any club. We need a President, Vice president, Secretary and a Treasurer minimum.

                          Long beach now has a location to hold training workshops. Holding things like that in a restaurant was never a possibility.

                          Location does not even need to be a restaurant if we can get access to another location on the cheap. Anyone with a connection to a VFW post, Elks club or other similar?

                            OK. I went to both Tilted Kilt and Acapulco and asked about space for a group of 15 - 20 on August 3rd. (my best guess as to how many might show up). Here is what I found:

                            TILTED KILT:

                            Pros:
                            1. Just over the O.C. line in Long Beach/easy to find on PCH;
                            2. A lot of parking;
                            3. Outdoor patio that will accommodate approx. 15 - 20 (but see below);
                            4. 2 possible meeting areas inside; and
                            5. Good visuals ... if you know what I mean.

                            Cons:
                            1. Patio offers little shade and we will cook; and
                            2. Inside is very noisy .... hope you like a constant fix of house/trance/hip-hop music ... forget about carrying on much of a conversation.

                            ACAPULCO:

                            Pros:
                            1. Just over the O.C. line in Long Beach/easy to find on PCH, basically across the street from Tilted Kilt in the Marina Pacifica shopping center;
                            2. A lot of parking;
                            3. Upstairs has both a Cantina and a Banquet Room that could be used;
                            4. Great water views of Alamitos Bay; and
                            5. A lot quiter than Tilted Kilt.

                            Cons:
                            1. None, really.

                            I talked to the GM of Tilted Kilt and the hostess at Acapulco. In order for a large group to be accommodated at either location, they want to know how many people, and they want the space to be reserved in advance. The hostess at Acapulco was willing to make the reservation for me, but I told her (and the GM at Titled Kilt) that I was just on fact-finding mission, and that the higher-ups would contact them.

                            I have names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses in case you are interested.

                              LA is a big county and many of our members are from the northern part of the county. I, for one, live within a couple hundred yards of the Ventura/LA County line. Others live in the SFV, SCV, Palmdale and even Lancaster. So, would there be any way of either moving it north or having a second meeting for those of us in the northern part of LA County along with the rather large Ventura County Chapter (I think some of their members even live in Santa Barbara County!)?

                                Black Bear Diner isn't an option. The patio isn't open yet, snd unless we could fill it we'd have regular folks around too.
