So, would there be any way of either moving it north or having a second meeting for those of us in the northern part of LA County along with the rather large Ventura County Chapter (I think some of their members even live in Santa Barbara County!)?
There is a reason that this thread is titled "OC/LBC and not L. A.

I know you are a valuable member CSA and I appreciate your input a lot. You have way more knowledge on reloading than I do. But the point is, this thread is not projected to the residents of Central/North L.A. County. It is projected to the residents of South L.A. County(LONG BEACH) and O.C.

I realize you did show up at one of the first meetings of the L.B. Reloading Club and I appreciate your input and support. I was there too. Since then I don't remember seeing you at any of the OC/LBC reloading clinics, and I have attended all of them, either as a student or a volunteer. I have to say here that I have not been to any of the L.A. County meetings or clinics. Too far for me to drive and I am sure it is the same for you.

I do not intend this response to be confrontational. Please don't take it that way. I am only pointing out that the L. A. Chapter should maybe focus more on the North end of the County and work from there. I know the Ventura Chapture has been very successful.

You make good points and I think a meeting of the L.A. Chapter is a very good idea. It should tie in nicely with the L.B./O.C. chapter. Big Bronco has some big plans for this Association and it is in the works. If you want I would be happy to attend a L.A. Chapter meeting to expound on those ideas.

Maybe we can get together and compare notes and see what the best course of action is. At this point I am not worried about the drive, I just want to help the club.

I just want to see the club grow, I don't care if its the L.A./O.C./L.B/ chapter or something else. I can meet on just about any given Sunday to discuss Club business and just shoot the ****. I understand you are in BFE, but I am jealous of the freedoms you have outside of rural Ca..

And in all fairness, just because JMB did it doesn't mean anything. He'd have won WWII with a soup can, a fork, and a couple rocks. Seriously, even McGuyver and Steven Hawking get together every now and then and are like "How the **** did he do that?..."

Actually, look at the title of this thread. It includes "LA" but, lets not get into a piissing match. My life and living situation changed last year and now getting away on weekends is extremely hard for me to schedule. I'm now less than 5 minutes from town and 101. It's still rural living but, a lot easier to run to town and it's paved roads all the way. With matches, Women On Target, LA and Ventura Reloading Clinics, I've been gone too much and am now having to be very selective about which events I attend or risk loosing my living arrangement.Otherwise, I would have been at every LB, OC, and IE clinic I could squeeze in. When I was asked to help start up the club in LA County, I had a few people from the LB area not wanting to travel to where I could get to. So, between them and myself, we decided to start a second chapter in LA County and have it centered in the LB area only because, that is where they were located and the best place for them. At that time, my intentions were to help, attend, run, or whatever, every event there too. But, life throws curveballs once in a while. Anyway, it looks like having two meetings, one down there and the other either in the SFV or somewhere in Ventura County is viable and should get more members to attend. There's going to be a lot to talk about and the more members who attend, the better. Hopefully, within the next year, we can have a centralized list of members and some sort of monthly or quarterly newsletter for everyone. Then, many admin type things can be easily done online but, we're not there yet. So, we need as many members to attend these meetings as possible.

Before things get out of hand. The main focus is to coalesce Orange County and Long beach chapters until they can stand on their own. Since L.A. Proper is not too far from us I wanted to see if there was interest in joining in on the meeting. I don't want folks left out in the dark. There are no plans to unite with L.A. We are all under the same banner already. I am perfectly fine holding meetings wherever they need to be.

Not that CASCannoneer needs to be spoken for. He has been in with this project since day one. He is a NRA certified instructor and probably has more reloading experience than four of us combined even with yours truly in the mix. CSACannoneer is not only a great guy he is on the State reloading committee. Part of the background team making this happen. I am more than pleased he spares what time he can to work with us.

        Lets keep things civil.

The following deserves a separate post.

For those who can attend this meeting. Please ask yourselves a few questions. Answers are not too be posted. There are no incorrect answers.

1 What are you bringing to the table?

2 Do you want this effort to succeed and grow?

3 What do you want out of a reloading club as a member?

4 Are you willing to volunteer?

5 Do you find joy in helping others learn?

6 When it comes to being on a team what are your strengths and weaknesses.

Your input and ideas matter so bring then with you. Write them down?

Please remember we are on the fore edge of something that has never been done before. Just for a moment ponder and visualize the possibilities. I have.

It matters not where we meet, only who we meet with.

It would be difficult for the north LA/SFV members to make it to Long Beach, but it's not a problem if we have a similar but separate meeting. I like the idea of holding that meeting with the Ventura club too (I've been wanting to meet some more of those guys). We could hold it somewhere in between like Simi or moorpark, no?

If BigBronco can't make it up, I'm sure he can convey all the info to CSA to pass along. Same could be done with IE and San Diego, as well as the various clubs in the central and northern part of the state. I would hate for those who have been leading the charge on the clubs to get burnt out or more overburdened by thinking they have to drive all over the state for each club...we should be at a point with communication technology where this isn't necessary. If there's too much to pass along to someone, Skype perhaps? Just need to find a place with free wifi...

Edit: sorry, BigBronco, I was writing while you posted...didn't mean to further derail the thread!

this is just the kind of confusion i was trying to head off in my correspondence with big bronco.
his suggestion was to have an l.a./ ventura meeting that he would attend. so let's see if we can make that happen.speaking for myself i have no life ,so i'm free anytime.

I have two ideas for locations for a LA/Ventura meeting place. I have not spoken with either person in charge of either location yet. One would be a super secret spot in Camarillo. The other would be at my stepson's Hooka Lounge/Bobba Bar in the middle of the SFV (Roscoe and Reseda). The Lounge doesn't open until 3pm so, we might be able to get him to open early for us and even make bobba if people were interested. We would just have to be out by 3pm. Obviously, other locations can be considered as well. The two possibilities that I mentioned would just be low/no cost places to meet.

Struggling new reloader here. I haven't had the pleasure yet to participate in one of the local training sessions but would love to get involved in the local LB/OC Club. Pick the place, date and time and I'm there.

CSA, you are absolutely correct in everything you said and I would like to apologize. I responded in haste and didn't fully comprehend or read your post. Again, I apologize.

I like the ideas you have stated and many are the same ideas I and other members have talked about starting. I have a feeling that with the right support and input from you and other members that this club idea can get really big.

But, we need to get it off the ground. That means sitting down and voting in leadership.

We need members to step up and say "I'll do it". And we need members to decide who, and how they want this club to be run.

New information needs to be discussed, and plans of action need to be formed as to what direction we as a organization want to go.

I'm pretty sure August 3rd is set as the date. That gives members 3 weeks to ask questions here, and start formulating a voting decision.

DISCLAIMER: I am not in charge and have no decision making authority.

My own thoughts on an initial plan of action:
BigBronco should post an initial list of positions for the leadership team.

I would like to see members who are interested in becoming part of the leadership team post in this thread in the next week(July 13-20).

The next week(July 21-27) is a good time(in my opinion) for ideas to be discussed and formulated by and about the candidates.

That leaves the last week before the vote for members to formulate who they would like to vote for.

I think if we wait for the 3rd to start the discussions we will not have the time to actually vote.

I will be first to state I would like to become part of the leadership team. I have thoughts of who else I would like to see on the team, but I will keep that to myself until next week.

Anybody else have a better idea? I'm all ears.

                    John

Here is my opinion, it's worth what you paid for it.

I have been to a lot of meetings where voting on various items was conducted, whether it be Personnel positions or issues before a board.

Some of these meetings were very productive. The voters had been informed of the issues, or had researched the issues/candidates beforehand and knew which way they wanted to vote. There were last minute discussions that could have swayed some votes but most people had made a decision. The meeting was structured and an agenda was adhered to. It went very smooth and efficient.

Then there is the other type of meetings I have been to. These tended to be way longer than the other meetings. The voters showed up to the meeting with absolutely no information on what or who they were voting for and had done no research beforehand. The meeting planners had no agenda, no structure, and no outline. In the end most people voted just to end the meeting and nothing was accomplished. Another meeting had to be scheduled to actually have the vote.

Obviously, I am a fan of the first type of meeting. But, I have cleared my schedule on Aug. 3rd all day in case it takes that long. I have no problem with that. I just thought it might eliminate some of the "inefficiency" that sometimes goes on in the second type of meetings to at least get a head start on leadership positions, who wants to run, who doesn't, what the positions entail, etcc... I am not a fan of bureaucracy.

That is why I suggested BigBronco list the leadership positions and have members post up if they were interested in fulfilling that role. Then we would have three weeks to be informed on candidates, issues, and what not before going to vote.

If that's not how most members want to do it I am fine with that.

And in all fairness, just because JMB did it doesn't mean anything. He'd have won WWII with a soup can, a fork, and a couple rocks. Seriously, even McGuyver and Steven Hawking get together every now and then and are like "How the **** did he do that?..."
