    RCBS .30 Carbine sizing

Messing around with some RCBS dies of unknown history. The sizing/decapping die isn't sizing the brass.

Can't find a parts diagram anywhere. Does the RCBS sizing/decapping die have a separate piece that sizes the brass that might have gotten lost? Might it have been removed to make a "universal" decapping die?

Call RCBS ,tell them what you have and they should send you replacement parts at no cost.
    Keep it simple!

How old is the die set? The older RCBS dies have a sizing die, a flaring/decapping die, and a seating die. Is it possible that this is what you are running into?

That is possible. The decapping pin is adjustable and has a tapered shoulder that could be used to flare.

Maybe have to see if there is a number on the die itself.

Here are some crappy cell phone pics of my .30 Carbine die set with the flaring/decapping die

          I hope that helps.

You sure it is a 30 M1 carbine and not a 30 remington or 30 ar or something like that?

Oh wow. I see the images now above. Trippy how they did them backwards back in the day... :O

I think that's exactly what we have. I'm not familiar with RCBS in general & my guess it's an older set.

Bottom line is to give RCBS a call. They have always helped me with all their products from Dies to Tumblers to presses.

Dude, read the instructions when all else fails.

                      As pictured in your box.

Die in the center is the "SIZER". It is used first.

Die on right with the knurled knob decapping pin is the "Decapping/Flaring" die. Used 2nd in order of operation.

Die on left is the "SEATER" it seats and crimps the bullet/case. It is used last.

Read the instructions and compare the pictures in them.

3 die straight wall pistol dies are different than 2 die set bottleneck dies.

                      just say'n
