    Giraud Case Trimmer.

    Folks,

Just purchased a Giraud case trimmer. Will have to wait, about 6-8 weeks but it will be well worth it. $440 plus shipping. Spend way to much time doing case prep. A2

It's a tough pill to swallow at first, but I figure the time savings over the years will be well worth it. Definitely love my Giraud, it's already trimmed thousands of .223, .308, and .30-06 since I've gotten it. I'll have to get adapters for some of the other calibers I shoot too, such as 6.5x55, 8mm Mauser, .303 British, etc...

I have had a Giraud for about 15-18 months. Absolutely LOVE that machine . It has trimmed thousands of rounds. It is so easy that I trim cases each time they are fired. It's amazing how some cases stretch after being fired once. Specifically the high intensity 22 cals, like 220 Swift, .223 and so on. I slowly adding a trimmer holder and blades for each caliber. Yes, it's extravagant but, my son will use it LONG after I'm gone.

Definitely worth the wait. My only regret about buying mine is why I didn't buy one sooner.

Bought mine back in 2007 when they were still $365. Mine is still going strong.

I had no idea they covered so many different sized rounds. I'm thinking this needs be on my list for a purchase this year. How hard is it to switch calibers?

Funny that this thread just popped up, as I was just reading about case trimming and the Giraud in particular. One thing I was wondering is about referencing the trim length off the shoulder with the Giraud vs referencing the trim length off the case head as most other trimmers seem to do. I realize that if the shoulders are all resized to the exact same dimension, then their will be no difference between the two methods. But with variances in case wall thickness and other variables, it seems that the head-to-shoulder sizing might possible vary, particularly if the brass is mixed from different manufacturers or possibly even if different cases had been shot a different number of times.

                  Thoughts?

Congrats on the new toy, well worth the price, so just cry once! Be prepared to have a sore thumb and finger from holding brass. I have had one for about 8 years. The only thing now is for you to save up for Doug's annealer!

If you have multiple caliber case holders, use a Hornday steel die locking ring for repeatable trim length.
