He wouldn't even let you exchange it for another box?
I'd at least give him a bad review on an I-net site. Where did you buy it?
The dings will straighten out when fired, But that stuff looks pretty kruddy.Comment

It's pretty standard practice to not exchange ammo. It's a safety issue. Giving the vendor a bad review for following industry safety practices is not the thing to do.Jim

At least he offered you some compensation... but I don't understand why he wouldn't exchange it and send it back to the factory himself with his next order. I've returned ammo for a complete refund a few times before. I guess Mel Cottons Sporting Goods and Wallmart have different policies.Comment

As in my orignal post , He needs to contact Federal . I dont think a email is going to get you anywere , you need to talk to there customer service and work your way through until you get to somebody thats allowed to say yes . I have never delt with them so I dont know how difficult that may turn out to be .
It is common to have a no refund/exchange on ammo . to easy to swap in something else that could be very dangerousComment

as for functionality, there won't be any problem. as for aesthics, complain and they'll probably compensate you in some fashion...Doug

After about 20 minutes on the phone with Federal I was pretty much told if I didn't like the product they produce I had other options....
I then realized aside from wwb and cci stinger all the ammo I buy is Federal. Looks like they'll be losing a customer.Originally posted by KestryllYeah, don't tell that rat bastard Kestryll, he'll shut it down.

#1. Ask to open and examine every round of ammo you're going to buy from a vendor
Or #2. Just learn to Roll your own ammo-It's easy and well worth the savings$$ and efforts..very rewarding to see the fruits of your labor.

I'm under the impression that all commerical retail ammo sales are final / nonreturnable. And if the walmart forlks are allowing returns or exchanges, it's a failure in their training.
I'll have to see if I can find the regs.
And the OP needs to press Federal quite a bit more for a discount or replacement, as that product is certainly not 'quality' or up to par with the premium price being charged for it.Comment

i have found the federal vital shok ammo with barnes tsx's to be, frankly, junk...really really expensive junk.
it groups nearly 3" at 100 yds while even the fusion ammo was 0.7" and my barnes MRX handloads at 0.5" obviously my rifle might just like the other better but....
the tsx tips were damaged just as Bobula's pic showed but worst of all was that after i chambered and then extracted an unfired round, the bullet became loose and the crimp no longer held it in place. disaster. who running their production lines?? bugs bunny and daffy the duck?
stay away from this stuff until federal gets its act togetherWestcoastrComment
