Cannot find exact bullet data

Trying to find an exact load for .45ACP 200grnRNP. I cannot find this exact bullet, I can find HP, TMJ,FMJ, but no data for plated round nose. I will use IMR700, Winchester WSF or Clays. I have looked in my LEE, Lyman and a couple other sources but find every bullet but what I have. any suggestions?

Powder manufacturers cannot accommodate every single bullet out there. Use data for a bullet that mimics the same seating depth as yours or deeper. In this case it's the SWC. It actually sits deeper in the case than a FP. So the data will be safe.

So, look for loading data on a 200gn. TMJ and load according to the powder manufacturers loading guide.

You don't have to be exact, just careful. 200gr 45acp is not going over 1200fps. Just load it to any 200gr recipe for FMJ.

I use TMJ load data when loading plated (if I can't find load data for what I'm loading). Or at least my starting point backed off by 10%. Also +1 on ejhc11.

Barrels do not care what the bullet is for the most part. They care little about whether or not the bullet is lead or copper or something else.

Reloading is NOT exact science, it is more of an ART due to all of the exact variables so you go with your best intent and try to be exact and you will achieve closely related repeatable results.

In your case, this is my secret, I learned this about 5 months AFTER starting to reload. PAY ATTENTION to the WEIGHT. That is the single most important thing that I have found. So if you have a load recipe for some 200gr j-word bullets, go with it, if not, then use lead data.

If you read the Book of Lee, you would have already known this for the most part because that is MOSTLY how LEE has their data sorted, They list data for Plated, Cast Lead, and Jacketed (J-words). And THAT is how I play.

So listen to what everyone here is telling you. THey are pretty much all correct...
