    "Reloading" .22 BB Caps

I read somewhere that the .22 BB Cap was the first self-contained cartridge and invented by pressing a round bullet into a percussion cap intended for a percussion muzzle loader.

If it worked in 1845, it seems like it could still work in 2014. The .22 shortage continues unabated, and BB Caps are hard to find and expensive even when they are available. These would be just the thing for teaching my kids how to shoot.

What do you guys think? Can anyone tell me what size percussion cap I would need? Anyone make primers this big? (I know, stupid question, thought I would try.) Where I could get the percussion caps? A source for round .22 bullets? Could I just tap them in or would I need a press or something? Interested in the cheapest possible way. As you can tell, I am not a reloader. I won't be offended if you tell me I'm crazy, but would appreciate it if you would play along.

You will wind up investing more money and effort than you will enjoy from that venture. Youd save more money winning a gunbroker auction on overpriced 22

You can use the blanks from Home Depot with the projectile of your choice.

This will probably convince you that it's a bad idea in a half hour or so.

Follow all of the lawyers instructions on the box. This will result in your not doing anything.

I don't know of any percussion caps the right size and with a rim. I think you're SOL going that route.
