H335 or CFE223? .223 Rem

I'm reserving my Benchmark for premium bolt varmint rounds. Wanna load up a bunch of FMJ general purpose. I can get either H335 or CFE223 in 8# jugs. Which one do you like and why?

Hodgdon's reloading site seems to be down. I have older books which don't cover CFE223.

I don't shoot heavy bullets. Heaviest is 62g Win PP. Really I'm looking at 55gr. I like accuracy, but gnats butt isn't a requirement for these.

I use 24 grains of h335 under a 55gr fmjbt. It shoots as well as I can.

I load the Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT with 25gr H335 and it's roughly a 1.5moa round at 100yrds in an AR.

Same load in a R700 is about .75-1moa.

I like CFE 223. It shoots well and clean out of my ar.

I use H335 under a 60gr pill and get about .7 MOA out of my AR. So I would recommend you get CFE

I have NO experience in loading anything other than 748, but H335 is what I have my eyes on next.

I have heard NOTHING but good stuff about that powder.

Oh and as for Benchmark, yes, THAT should be reserved for actual WORKING loads like varmint loads. That stuff was expensive when my friend bought a bottle at $37.99 a bottle in LHC AZ...

use both...h335 for my 55grainers, and cfe for my 77gr in one of my ARs. The 55gr are my plinking rounds and I do 25gr and it shoots sub- 2inch groups all day with a 1-4x scope.

23.1 grains of cfe w/ 77gr SMKs out of my wife's MP15 Sport, it literally gets 1/2" groups at 100 yards if we do our part....literally

For the light stuff, go with H335 or Benchmark. Thats what I go with

25 gr H335 same case same primer 50 - 55 gr nice velocity , flows like h2o.

I used Benchmark for my plinking rounds when Varget disappeared back in Feb. '13.
I was surprised when that disappeared for a while.
I didnt like working up for benchmark or h335 all over again, but now, h335 is my go to powder, for my ar

If you're just going to plink with them, go with H335. its faster than CFE223 so that means less grains per charge, which means more reloads, about 300 more rounds per 8# with 335 over CFE (give or take)

I run 24.5gr H335 with Hornady 55gr FMJBT mixed brass, get 1/2 MOA 100 yes from my AR.

24.7g of H335 with Hornady FMJ also provides me with incredible results. I bought a bunch of 748 during the big powder shortage that I still need to use before I buy more H335.

I have never used CFE so can't help there.

H335 is temperature sensitive, don't know about CFE.

I shoot 500 yd steel no problem. Beyond that it gets pretty erratic. Shooting 55gr though.

Even though I've heard from several people from here and outside, I've never noticed the temperature sensitivity of H335. Maybe I don't shoot far enough nor chronographed my load.

To OP even though I've never used CFE .223 powder before I've had good results with H335. I'm able to shoot .75" to .50" with my .223 single shot NEF rifle topped with 52 grain match pill. I would try CFE once it becomes available at my local GS.
