THoughts on Hornady Lock n Load Classic Kit

Looking to start reloading and looking want to start with a single stage press. Is the Hornady LNL classic any good? There is a 500 free bullut promo right now for it as well. What is a good price to buy at?

That was the first kit I bought when I first started reloading. Overall it's a good kit but if I could go back I would buy an RCBS. I'm just not terribly impressed with the press itself.

The 500 bullet promo is tempting, when they are in stock and not backordered, but I am not sold on the lock and load feature. Lee has a version also.

I just hope I never get too lazy to screw and unscrew a die.

Really good press to start learning how to reload. Get the extra die bushings from Midwayusa and reloading different calibers is easy.

i use the lock and load classic press to do all of my rifle cartridges. works good and the quick release die holders are nice. i bought it because the frame is offset giving you easier access to the shell holder. especially with my big hands.

i just bought the press not the kit.
my pistol stuff i do on the 550

I have RCBS and Hornady. The Hornady is a very good press/kit.
I, and several friends, have had nothing but trouble with the Hornady spray lube.
Buy the RCBS spray lube and you will be better off. I use the RCBS spray lube for 204ruger thru 50bmg and do not get stuck cases.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

the DIY case lube is possibly the best out there - lanolin & alcohol

Wow. Everyone already contributed to this one.

I keep forgetting that Hornady makes a single stage...

Geeze. They get overlooked so much, I guess they need to make something better of them for others to take notice.

All I ever hear is ROCKCHUCKER! for any single stage press that gets mentioned. Although they are nice, it IS refreshing to get a different press mentioned from time to time.
