.357 mag hunting load

I chronographed the Buffalo Bore 180 grain loads out of the same gun, stainless Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel, 1,500 fps about ten feet out. The recoil feels more like a .44 mag. A lot of energy for a hand gun, over 800 foot lbs if I recall correctly.

Just don't use a hollow point bullet. H110 behind a Speer 125 soft point will do the job at close range.

if you have H110/296 you are set.
15.5-16 gr with 158 gr Hornady jacketed
Magnum primer
work up as usual

2400 is good for cast at 13.5/158gr std primers

agreed, hardcast bullet with the fattest meplat. This is a job for straight lead, and lots of it. Heavier the better.

pretty sure even at softcast, with a "max load" of H110 you'll be plenty accurate at 20 yards to keep the bullets in the black. That's just a hunch, but one that is educated. The damage should be extreme.

Just kidding. Bring a 44 mag DEsert Eagle loaded with 24.5gr of H110 and Hornady XTP or some pure copper/brass hunting loads...

I load a lot of 357 Magnum for a couple revolvers and a Handi Rifle. With the following observations. Allianct 2400 seams to burn better and get up to speed in the shorter handgun barrels, where as H110 favors longer barrels.

1) Revolvers only - 158gr LSWC with Alliant 2400
2) Combo load for both Revolver and handgun - 158 gr JHP with H110
3) Rifle only - Lyman 200gr LRN-GC with H110 <too long to chamber in revolvers>

I forgot what it was but some guy had some large 44 mag solid metal SOMETHINGS that were either hard cast or different metal, designed for at least 3' of penetration... - OR SOMETHING...
