All I shoot is lead. The only jacketed stuff is for self defense.

They are good for plinking. That is about it. I got 2300 200g LSWC and weighed 20 bullets from each box. They ranged from 190-215 grains and about 2% had no bullet lube. I don't know if this was a problem with the bullets, or if a pebble somehow made it into my barrel, but after a shooting session I noticed a huge gouge in my Les Baer's barrel. I can't imagine how something got into the barrel but I am willing to bet it came from a bullet I loaded. After usiing all of them up and switching to Penn Bullets my groups have been cut down by one third. Nedless to say no more missouri bullets in my guns. Thanks for all the replies so far
Has anyone tried these bullets

Good lead bullets don't foul.
Sounds like you had bad ones.Randall Rausch

Could have been a few issues: improper bullet fit, too hard or soft of an alloy, insufficient or poor quality lube.Comment

Goldenwest Brass in El Monte, CA. They have a shop and make the bullets out of raw materials.
Doing a local pick up and paying cash is sweet.Comment

I'd like to try out that Goldenwest Brass, but I would never be able to make their store hours.Comment

I've been using bear creek with good results.
I haven't tried the montanna gold yet.
We sell both out of the store.Comment

Laser Cast bullets are good; but for their current price, you might as well get some FMJ bullets.Comment

I also use Bear Creek for my 9mm and .38 with good groupings. If you want to try them out pm me.Comment

I used Western Nevada/Hardcast .45 200gr SWC for a couple years of IPSC shooting and several years after that, good stuff.
I think they had a split of the original company workers and a re-merger or buyout since then, the all seem to be rolled together again as http://www.xtremebullets.com/
I haven't had to buy bulk bullets in a couple years so can't comment on their current quailty or business practices. They were certainly good, previously.
If you're looking for a good value in reloading and are primarily looking for affordable ammo for plinking, taking loads of new folks to shoot, or running IPSC / combat style drills, lead-alloy bullets are certainly the way to go.
Be cautioned that CA's bogus lead regulations have many indoor ranges banning use of bullets with any exposed lead. To resolve this and still maintain some $ savings, look for TMC-style bullets, basicalyl copper washed lead projectiles. And you'll avoid any barrel-leading issues to boot.
The lead fouling really becomes an issue when the bullets are all lead or almost no antimony. 100% lead is quite soft and basically smudges down the barrel, particularly if you've loaded a hot cartridge charge.
And to the poster above, there's no way in hell a lead bullet put a gouge in your steel barrel.Comment

Montana Gold or Zeros for jacketed and Bearcreeks for lead. Hornadys for Rifle.
The more you buy the cheaper they are. You need to find some guys that shoot alot and get in on a group buy.
Frank at Irvington might hook you up on a group buy.
Or, start action shooting at Richmond everyone buys components together there. Thats the only way to go.
Also, if you need rifle bullets start hanging around with highpower guys, they probably do group buys as well.Comment
