    223 Bullets: 2 questions

1st: I have a Colt CRP-18, 18" 1-8 twist barrel. Looking for suggestions on type of bullet I should be shooting through it for 3 gun competition as well as plinking. Looking for the best bang for the buck, not trying to break the bank for accuracy just highest quality I can reliably acquire.

2nd: Where is this bullet sold?

I mainly shoot 55gr because it's readily available and I can buy a ton of it at a decent price. But my gun does better with 50gr but I can't find it as easily. Your gun may love 55gr, try a few different ones from the bench then go from there.

Since you say bullet, I assume you are reloading. The Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT is an excellent bullet and can be had for around $0.08 - $0.10 each. If you got brass, you can reload these with H335 for about $0.20 each.

I would agree with the 50, but they are a pain to get. I'm partial to the Nosler 50s or 55s. The rest of them shoot fine, but I've been more successful at finding Nosler at Midway and Sportsman's Warehouse.

Cheapest pill I seen is Xtreme 55gr FMJs. Their reviews are good but in other forums is a mix. Other than that, Hornady 55 gr FMJs is the other way to go.

I have a few K of the extreme 55. They are good "gong" bullets IMO, to time consuming and frustrating for me to get consistency out of them for accuracy.

These are cheaper but there are mix reviews on them. I would try them for plinking.

During the crunch I would have said any 55gr bullet.

But today for 55gr bullets Hornady are the best. Xtreme are good. Stay away from Armscore.

Armscor are good for plinking. They definitely aren't as good as hornady. But they work. Buy it cheap and shoot a ton.

The Hornady bullets all have a great copper flash, very pure looking and shiney. Nice stuff for the money. My last Nosler all had a poor copper flash with copper missing in places. The finish was also opaque. The box says "every bullet is examined". They must use blind people.

Those were 69 and 77 grain match. Haven't shot those yet so I don't know if it will make any performance difference. I'll probably go back to Hornady 75 grain match, low cost and very good.
