    7.62 x 51 German

I just picked up 400 rounds of what looks like West German surplus ammo at a little gun shop out here in AZ. it is sealed in OD MRE looking bags 200 rounds each. I payed 300 bucks for two bags. It is labeled "DM 41 7.62 x 51 Weichkern" did I do ok?

Are you asking what I paid last time I bought some of that?

    It's good ammo.

Yea, I think the last time I bought that it was about $50/battle pack. But, in today's market, you could have done a lot worse. Hell, you could have got suckered into buying Indian .308.

Yeah, the price of .308 is high right now. It seemed like a good buy, and the shop owner was not sure what it was. He said he bought it at a garage sale. Thanks for the info...

Be aware though, that it's berdan primed so not terribly suited for reloading.

You'll try to deprime it once... then you'll spend some time looking for another decapping pin.

There was a story around that a guy put some Indian 308 through a 1919a4, had a squib round and blew up the barrel.

I've been shooting some remanufactured Indian marked 82 OFV 7.62 that I bought back in the 80's from a store that was down in Anaheim (if I remember correctly, on Katella close to a railroad underpass). They were selling the rounds in ammo cans (bulk no stripper clips). My brother and I split a 1200 round/4 ammo can purchase (was around $150 from each for us). The store claimed that the original Indian rounds were very poor quality, so they pulled the bullets, dumped the powder, poured in new powder, and reseated the bullets. The primers appear to be the original primers (not replaced).

I've been saving the brass, because it looks good, but have not reloaded any of it yet (I've got tons of LC once fired brass). These remanufactured rounds have been used as plinkers for my M1As, and they shoot fine for that purpose. I'm down the last of this stuff (around 100-125 left I would guess)
