Newb question about 9mm load data

All data I have ever seen shows COAL for 9mm is 1.169"
I am pretty sure most JHP bullets are shorter than FMJ/RN

OAL is dependent on the caliber, bullet profile, & chamber variances: most refer to this as "long" "short". OAL can be limited by the Magazine as well, depends on platform.
Make a dummy round and figure out "your" barrels OAL & back off/load from there.

fwiw: There are more than just published bullet profiles: RN, TC, SWC, WC, HP. Each profile ogive will engage the rifling differently based on profile/shape.

Example:
Most bulk manuf. 115 FMJ "ROUND NOSE" OAL will be APPROX. 1.15"

"My" 9mm OAL:

115 HAP 1.075" [HAP has a similar profile to XTP JHP]
124 MG JHP 1.072"
147 MG CMJ 1.12"
* Powder charge/weight of course varies with each based on weight

I realize there is different COAL, factory ammo is all over the place.
I was referring to comments by Leethe4th stating Max COAL at 1.170,
when in fact SAAMI lists 9mm at Max COAL at 1.169.
As for length of bullets Hornady shows (9mm) 115gr FMJ RN COAL at 1.100" and 115gr HP XTP COAL at 1.075"
Seems to me the HP is shorter.

What I was getting at is that a plated 115 FMJ RN projectile is too short to fit securely in a 9mm case at an OAL if 1.170".

Berrys makes hollow base version that is long enough, but all others are too short. Not enough bullet shank.

I load 115gr Berrys Plated bullets with 5.2gr of Unique. Very accurate through my H&K USP.

Newb question about 9mm load data

I spent a lot of time researching this exact load and tested hundreds with different recipes. I finally dialed it down to 1.100" @ 5.4-5 grains of unique under a 115grain xtreme plated. It is definitely loaded on the "hot" end, but it provides me a reliable accurate round.

I have also loaded .38spec, .40 s/w and .45 acp with xtreme plated. Testing out as close to max as possible until I would see signs of pressure. Never once have of of these bullets patterned out with signs of fragmenting (plate separation).

I have read many times to load as lead, I have done that and found cycling issues.
