School me on sabot loads

Shooting a .224 bullet in a .308 at almost 4000fps seems very interesting.

A lot of the time the plastic from the sabot peels off like leading. I was looking at doing it but read that. I was told accuracy wasn't too good either.

maybe you could paper patch the .224. Only 12 wraps of printer paper :P

I think the paper would catch fire and be considered a tracer round.

Then the leos that busted the OP would just laugh at them for posting an OT worded post in a "serious" forum and make more fun of them for buying cheap tracer rounds from mexico or china on Fleabay...

Last I heard SABOTS were for smooth bores and muzzleloaders...

Light'n up rocket nobody believes the paper patch catches on fire, it's the barrel that melts.

Once the barrel melts and your shoes catch fire you will discover that an inaccurate round going really fast just sucks sooner.

Oh hell no. My dad once shot a chicken with a sabot and the paper lit the thing on fire as it whizzed by and then the bird took off while still on fire and it ran into the corn fields and well, all the neighbors just came by to watch, and eat popcorn... To this day I refuse to eat bbq chicken OR go to the movies...

And I certainly don't care for movies about bbq chickens...

I also believe that sabots ARE indeed classified as technology enhanced assault rounds and therefore illegal in CA per the Warsaw Pack AND NATO Agreement back in 1847.

Years ago there was a round called the "Accelerator" .believe it was a 30-06 round with a sabot. Was pulled off the market because no rifiling was engraved into the bullet itself. This made the bullet untraceable ,such as sniping and leaving no trace of the gun used.
An interesting concept.
