..You run the real risk of sticking a bullet in the barrel..
Brass rod, hammer, and WD40; never without them while shooting my experimental loads.

I can dump some powder on the cement pour some water on it. leave it outside maybe put a piece of foil over it. so it does not get washed or blown away. come back next year after a year of dew, moisture bugs whatever. If the powder is dry throw a match on it and puff. If you ever really get into black powder shooting though your going to get hooked especially in a 45-70. My future dream gun is a Sharps 45-110
scrat i have a sharps LRE in 45-70 and man i can tell you it's fun. and if you are using BP don't forget to compress your powder. i don't think he should use his bullet to compress the powder as it might distort the bullet and not seat right.

are you on the Sharps forum? i think the wait time is around 18 to 22 months. so you have time to pay for it. i recieved my sharps in february this year. and i have had so much fun shooting it. i use BP only in it right now. i'm shooting 69 gr. of Fg Goex and it works pretty good out to 500 yds.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

See if this works for you..

Open and print the doc and it will give you a lot of your info you are looking for.

This is just some of the loads, I use 55 grains H4895 and that works really well in my modern lever action. I have a lot of the load in formation for the 45LC, 45/70, 45/90, 45/120 and a lot of other stuff. Drop me an email if you need something and I will put up a post as I can.

I agree, jacketed bullets are not for cowboy loads, the GG is not intended for that type of shooting either.

Soft lead and BP or a BP substitute.

            Off topic a bit,

Question: If I have 2f or 3f BP, and I need 4f for flinter's flash-pan, would the following work?

            1. Grind down water-moisted BP into 4f-sized
            2. Re-sieving from water-constitued/re-grinded BP dough
