Is my coal good?

According to the Hornady, Lee, Nosler, and Lyman manuals, the maximum COL is 1.169 so you should be ok - Hornady and Nosler use a COL of 1.100. You'll need to load your magazine and see if it will feed reliably. Hornady, Lee, Nosler, and Lyman don't have a recipe using 800x so I'm not sure about the powder.

Thanks. The website said 1.100. So I wasn't sure if I was pushing it at 1.128

That looks like a good site for info.. However, I looked in my hornady 9th edition and Lyman 49th but didn't see anything with 800x for that bullet.

My first reloads were too long. My Lee data and Hogdon site both said the OAL was 1.1 for my LRN bullets, and I was set right at 1.1. Had all kinds of feed problems. Turned out the bullet was hitting the lands and sticking. I compared the 'fit' to factory loads and saw this:

My reloads were not seating all the way into the chamber and you could feel they were snug:


Compared to factory load that set flush and move freely.


I had to shorten the OAL to 1.03 for consistently good feeding. You might want to check them in your barrel.

NOTE: this was a Lonewolf 40-9 conversion barrel in a Glock 23. YMMV

I depends on your projectile. SAAMI specifications state for 9mm Luger MINIMUM OAL is 1.000"

I seat certain projectiles for 9mm down to 1.075"

So I went and shot them today and was having a problem were the brass was not ejecting sometime it did cycle properly.

You say your loading a 115gr RN, is this Lead or FMJ bullet?
I have loading manuals going back 20+yrs. , the only info for using IMR 800x I can find is LEE second edition- 115gr jacketed bullet/IMR 800x = 6.2gr - 6.5gr and HODGDON 2014 manual- 115gr Lead RN bullet/IMR 800x = 4.5gr - 5.3gr.
For COAL, I have measured several factory brands of ammo = COAL 1.105 - 1.165.
I load all of mine at 1.150, never had a problem.

I'm going to do everything the same but increase my loads to 4.7

Check for signs of pressure as you work your loads up until your gun confidently cycles. Check to see for flattening primers (it's one way of checking for pressure, but not the only way). Too much pressure could be due to too much powder or the seating height of the projectile (seated further in the case). Not sure if you're already do this but when you start a new load try doing "work up loads". If you already are then my apologies. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice and what do you mean by "work up loads"? Sorry I'm new to reloading this was my first batch.
