There is an issue of Surplus Firearms that I saw at B&N that had a two page article on reloading for the Makarov.
When I trim 9mm, I just flare the mouth and then use a 9x18 Lee Case Length Gauge and chuck it into a hand drill to process a bunch of cases. I then mark the case with Sharpie Black so that if I lose a case at the range, someone won't try and reload it for 9x19... at least, I'm hoping that they won't try.

I asked Bumslie about that and he said it shouldn't be a problem. I hope not since I ordered 1000 of the Missouri cast bullets. Most Makarov loads are between 600-700 fps anyway, and the barrels are short, so velocity won't be an issue.

The real problem I predict having is getting empty cases and policing them after shooting! I'm going to try making a batch of the trimmed down cases.

These quotes from The High Road thread, made me feel Okay saying that. I'd try it. I wouldn't do it with a higher pressure round. Just clean the gun.

Just so you realize, polygonal barrels have been around for hundreds of years. And considering that the jacketed bullet was designed until about 1883 or so, people we obviously shooting lead bullets in polygonal barrels.

Bottom line, a normal day at the range where that particular gun might get 50-100 rounds through it, isn't going to hurt a thing. Even in a glock. If you clean/brush the barrel of your gun like most people do, after each visit to the range, you have nothing to worry about. Get hundreds of rounds of lead bullets through your gun without ever cleaning the barrel, and you could have problems. It's definitely safe to shoot lead in the CZ-82. Just clean it.

Lead bullets and polygonal rifling
The manufacturer GLOCK advises against using lead bullets (meaning bullets not covered by a copper jacket) in their polygonally rifled barrels, which has lead to a widespread belief that polygonal rifling is not compatable with lead bullets. However, this appears to be due to other properties of the GLOCK barrel, as neither H&K nor Kahr recommend against lead bullets. The GLOCK barrels have a fairly sharp transition between the chamber and the rifling, and this area is prone to lead buildup if lead bullets are used. Since the GLOCK will fire while slightly out of battery (by design, as this increases reliabilty under adverse conditions), and since shooting lead bullets may result in failures to fully return to battery, shooting lead bullets can lead to an increased risk of a case head failure.

When you say cleaning it, you mean "Clean out and remove lead fouling often", not just run a bore snake down the barrel after shooting. Correct? Do you have a recommendation for a solvent specifically effective for removing lead and lead fouling out of a barrel?

Missouri Bullet Co. ships quickly! Got my order within 3days...nice!

I've got a little stash of about 150 pieces of brass so I'm going to load those up this week and try them out this weekend. I'll let you know, Capy, if I notice any unusual fouling in my CZ. I haven't run into any lead fouling yet that couldn't be handled by some solvent and a bore brush, though, even after a few thousand rounds through my .22s, and I just use Hoppe's or Shooter's Choice.
