Berry's Bullets new plated hollow points

So I saw the Berrys Bullets website and it looks like they finally started selling their new plated hollow points that are supposed to expand.

Big question is whether or not they are worth trying. I saw the prices and they are almost as much as what you would pay for top quality Hornady Hollow Point XTP's. At those prices, they better do some outstanding things, such as expand to double their size, have deep penetration and outstanding accuracy.

I can't see trying out these bullets without some serious independent reports. They are charging per 1000: $191 for 147gr 9mm, $200 for 180gr .40 Cal and $280 for 230gr .45 ACP.

If anyone has tried them out, please post your results. If I have time, I might buy a small box of 250 to try out. If I do, I will post the results, but at this time, I'm more inclined to stick with Hornady XTP's. The 9mm XTP's are selling pretty affordably at TJ Conevera's website.

If you have the old ones, can't you just saw the tips in a star formation?

These look pretty good compared to the exclusive "hole-punchers" they have made for years (SWC-equiv. in copper plated).

Bought 250 of the Berrys 185gr .45 hollowpoints, 250 Montana Gold 185gr and 100 Hornady XTPs. The berrys are a few millimeters shorter than the others but have a more rounded shoulder. All 3 weighed appx. 185.2-185.4 grains on my PROC digital scale.

I loaded 3 each dummy rounds with COL of 1.205" 1.220" and 1.23" to test cycle them in my Kimber 3" 1911. All bullets fed both hand racking and hitting the slide release. I noticed that the Hornady and Montana Gold with their steeper shoulders had marks from being fed. I did also notice marks on the shortest COL of the Berrys but not the other 2.

Next, I will be loading some powder charge tests and head out to the range. I am using both Unique and HP-38 with CCI 300 LP primers.

I made some rounds for my wifes .357 using XTP's. Pretty nice! I'm curious to try some in .45 ACP. Any feed back?

Get some Hornady FTX if they sell them for .45. When loaded they look like little missles. At least the Leverlution do in .44 mag and I THOUGHT those used the FTX bullets.
