RCBS AR Tactical Reloading Kit

1. I never said I spoke for anyone.
2. The kit is not bad, it's just very expensive for a single stage setup.
3. I presented another option that may reflect a better value if one is loading for a semi auto and wants volume of output.
4. I've said repeatedly to buy what you want.

Lets do some simple math and see where we end up. I will only add up the parts of this kit that would be needed on both a single stage, and a progressive. This way you can really tell what the actual cost of the single stage components really are. All the prices will be from Natchezss.com.

Hand priming tool. $37.95 (a lot of people hand prime, even when using a progressive press)
Case Slick Spray Lube. $9.45

So your grand total for the things that you would need to buy for any form of reloading, single stage and/or progressive, comes out to $449.07 That means that the press, powder measure, loading blocks, and shell holders cost a whopping $50.88

Please tell me where you can get a Lee, or a Smart Reloader press, powder measure, and shell holders, not to mention loading blocks for $50.88. You can't even get the cheap "C" frame presses, plus a powder measure for that.

There are things you simply cannot do on a progressive. bullet sizing with a lee sizer is not feasible for instance.

Why the arguing over single over progressive? They have completely different uses. I wouldn't rely on a progressive to load my long range rifle ammo and I wouldn't waste time loading 500 9mm plinking rounds. If you shoot precision rifle and semis/pistols you will benefit from both.

I don't really see your point. Of course you could pay less. There are infinite combinations of equipment, dies, buying new vs. used, different manufactures etc... that anybody could come up with to create a different cost. The point is, for those looking for a decent deal on a brand new, decent quality setup, that also has a use for the dies (or is willing to sell them to offset the cost somewhat) this is a pretty good deal.

My single stage setup is a Lee Challenger, with the Lee Perfect Powder Measure, some cheap loading blocks, a good set of calipers, and Lee dies for all my calibers. I started off using the Lee trimmer on a drill with the Lee chamfer/deburring tool with the case length gauges. I did buy a RCBS 5-10 scale though. By the time I was finished getting everything I needed to do all the calibers I reload for, I paid around what this kit costs. You will note that I have Lee equipment, not RCBS. I am not bashing Lee, in fact I like the set up that I have, but RCBS is a much better product. Note, I do reload for a "few" more calibers, so I have a "few" more dies.

That is not what this thread is about though. It is about letting people know about a good deal for the people that are in the market for something like this. This isn't about trying to convince people that a progressive is a better value, or that this kit is "really expensive". It also isn't a thread about how much cheaper you bought your set up. Different people look for different things when making decisions on purchases. Yes, this kit won't be for everybody, but that isn't the point.

I have been around a decent amount of new reloaders, and I am willing to bet that a good percentage of those people would be interested in this kit.
