The outside will get plenty clean, but the insides and primer pockets will not. Not sure it is worth the trouble wet tumbling/drying if the insides and primer pockets aren't getting done.

I took a q-tip to the insides, some residue but not much. I'll try another batch without the primers. If you guys have the HF dual tumbler. Do a test with and without the media. Seeing is believing.

First look at the pictures , he didn't de-prime, them primer pockets won't be clean anyway.

And how will brass on brass work harden any different than stainless steel/brass on brass?

              Thanks for the clarification Capt.

Stay tuned, I'll post pics of the batch w/out primers in about an hour.

Back from the test lab ....hahaha

Still some sludge in the primer pocket. I took the Lee Pocket Primer Cleaner and a Q-Tip to the first row to show a clean pocket. The 2nd row is straight from the tumbler. As you can see, still some sludge but I could live with it. When I get OCD, I'll clean them up. Less bling and more range time.

This is how bad habits start...

BTW, the next time you take photos, use a flash and if it bleaches out your shells and primer pockets, put a piece of white paper over the flash to act as a diffuser. That way we can actually SEE what you are talking about.

I'm always open to good advice. I appreciate everyone's comments.

The brass I cleaned this weekend is all storage brass so they won't be loaded anytime soon. I've got containers of brass that I went OCD on with my Ultrasonic cleaner, dry tumbler, flitz, pocket primer cleaned, etc.

BTW, if you need ss pins contact Stilly. He may also do weddings and bar mitzvahs if you need a good photographer.

Tumbling brass in walnut, corn cob, or stainless won't work harden brass. Neither will tumbling brass on brass. The time it would take to work harden it by tumbling would be more than anyone here would want to spend doing it. Might wear out your tumbler first.

And to the Soul_Cal good job , as long as your happy that's what counts.

Now back to my job as an Engineer, mechanical by the way.( I know how to work harden metal)

Lemi-Shine contains citric acid, if you look at any of the liquid brass cartridge cleaners they contain an acidic product to help clean the brass.

The stainless steel pins are the scrubbers and the dishwashing soap and Lemi-Shine are the cleaning chemicals.

I switched from dawn to laundry detergent and found the cases get just as clean in about a fourth of the time.
