Took 3 months for mine to ship. I replace the rings with Hornady die lock rings. Once set, the trim length doesn't change when taken on and off. They're steel, slab side so you can use a wrench to tighten and loosen it with ease.

Also, i bought 2 cutter heads with blades, 1 set for 223 and 1 set for 308. now all i have to do is swap the cutter head which takes 1 minute. The cutter has 3 cutting tips so one should last a long while.

It came with wrenches to install/remove cutter head. They tape them to the bottom (when machine is up right). I didn't see them till a week later...

In the years I've owned my Giraud trimmer, I never thought about changing out the lock ring on it. Funny considering I have many spare Hornady lock rings. I'll probably give it a whirl next time I do some trimming.

In the years I have owned my three Giraud trimmers, I never had to replace the locking rings that it came with. Every few hundreds rounds, I would measure the OAL and it remained consistent.

It's not that the ring comes loose. It's to speed up caliber change when you have multiple holders and cutter heads already set. Even if you don't have a 2nd cutter head, once the case holder is set all you need to do is adjust the cutter laterally.

Got it. I have two dedicated units for 308 and 223. For the rest, I use my third trimmer.

Mine took about 6 weeks several years ago to ship but Giraud's trimmers are in demand as more shooters are reloading everyday so it's not surprising it's taking him longer to fulfill orders.

They are very easy to setup and use and the unit comes with great instructions. I've had zero problems since I set it up so no advice in keeping it running just set it up right and you'll actually enjoy trimming your brass.

                  Giraud Trimmer

I actually thought I had died and gone to heaven when I started using mine. Really worth the money. I to will look into buying more cutters. I already have the lock rings.

I doubt I'll ever buy a gun that I plan to reload for, in a caliber that I can't get a caseholder for.
