    Progressive Press Lighting Upgrade

What a difference it makes! I can easily see the powder charge inside the case before I see the bullet. Very simple, VERY cheap.

It's "home made". Im an electrical contractor and have a ton of LED scraps laying around. If anyone is near Simi and wants a setup like mine, lemme know. I think I have enough power supplies for at least 4 or 5 more. $20 and its yours. Pretty good price, considering Inline Fabrications sells them for $40. Should be a way to attach to any progressive press.

I first looked at the pictures and thought, that is the weirdest Hornady Shell plate wire I have seen.

Wish I was closer, for one of your LED lights. Any chance you could list out some parts to DIY one from Grainger or McMasterCarr?

          thanks.

I did the same thing with my LLM but with a LED flashlight. I just spliced some wire from the battery to the circuit board of the lights and shove the circuit board inside the hole on the tool head. You have Mood lighting, I have disco lighting

Not sure about getting stuff from either place, I get my LED rolls from the electrical supply house. It comes in a 16' roll. All you have to do is solder a female 12 volt connection onto the tape. It is clearly marked "+ & -", then just plug into the power supply. It can be cut like every three LEDs, so you can pretty much cut it to fit. Best practice is to also heat shrink your solder points, to prevent any spark inducing short circuits.

Or, I could make one up and ship it to you It would come with a few zip ties, an alcohol prep pad, all soldered and heat-shrinked, with a power supply. $26 shipped or $20 to pick up.

This works great for my LnL AP. $10 and the light shines right through the center hole to show whether there is powder in the shell or not.

I thought you hacked apart a flashlight? Seems light a desk lamp would get in the way

I use an led light that was intended for sewing machines. It has a base that is about an inch and a half around which is stuck to the back/top of my press with double sided tape. The neck is a small flexible chrome piece and the head has a single LED. It can be directed at what you want to light up. The only problem is that the neck can move or be bumped and then it doesn't light up the powder. I use the same lights on the dillon 550 and 1050. A stationary light would have an advantage.

Sounds like a pain in the butt most of the time. The lights I've got are always in the right place, do t get bumped, and stay out of the way.
On another note, we had some friends over for dinner last night, and the woe is an avid quilter. She said I should market this to quilters, because while there are lighting options available, none of them are as low profile, inexpensive, and bright as what I've got.

I have a USB snake-light in the powder-check hole of my XL 650... pointing straight into the 3rd-station-case.

I am using a "generic USB iPhone charger"=>USB-extender=>USB-snake-light=>3rd-station-hole...

I did exactly the same thing. I grabbed a used transformer at Marvac for 3 bucks.

The LEDs do work extremely well.

I wish I could do that for my Lee classic cast turret.
