I like the Lee Autoprime, but if I was going to get a new priming tool it would be the Lee Ergo Prime. Pulling the handle in with 4 fingers is much easier and more natural than pushing it in with your thumb.

Recommend a good priming tool for me

I have used the RCBS Universal for several years.
Like someone mentioned, sometimes a small brass will get launched, due to the spring loaded holder and the small case not being centered.
Slowing down a little,by giving each case a little twist as you set it in stops that.
I would not change from this unit.
I load 200 to 800 rounds a month in rifle,depending on the season.Comment

Wow. That is nice. For years I have loved the original Lee hand priming tool for years. Simple and it works. However I picked up a New Lyman hand priming tool at the SHOT show and I like the way it is made. It used standard shell holders and is the easiest I have seen so far to reconfigure. I have not put it to the test yet I will soon though. Form how it looks
I think it will be my favorite. No lift and slot system like the new style Lee. Check it out.
But I DO like my RCBS APS Universal hand primer. No shell holders at all.
Also, the one thing that I like about the older Lees and primer flippers was that the textures were a bunch of dots, so they caught the primers and seemed to flip them over faster, now with them being lines, it seems to take another second ot two. Hey these little things add up. :O I DO enjoy my RCBS APS though. Yeah it was $50 + 20 for the strip loader and another 20 for all the strips I got, but no shell holders and it is RCBS. Fairly easy to change out sizes too.
I would have to have a serious look at the Lyman if I did it over again.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...
Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...Comment

I actually had the chance to try the new Lyman and the lee ergo and I would choose the Lyman in a heartbeat. The Lyman feels good in your hand. It feels strong and sturdy and I myself like good quality tools and this one felt awesome. I actually went home and ordered this exact priming tool. Bigbronco let me try both without pressure of which one was better, I myself chose this one as the best of the two.Wow. That is nice.

The original Lee Auto-Prime if you can still find one. I like that it points away from your face, instead of at you; like the Lyman and the new Lee primer. My 20 year old Lee is a little different from the earlier ones; it doesn't seat the primer with the thumb lever still a half inch from bottoming on the handle. It's maybe an eighth inch gap when the primer is seated. Pretty sure that was done to stop the gorillas from smashing the primers because they thought thumb lever had to bottom on the handle. Like Lee mentioned in his reloading manual. The tray with dots must be ancient; mine have the grooves and they are 20 years old.Comment

yep, kinda waiting for my lee to break so I can buy the lyman. I like the look of the rcbs with the universal jaw but also got the feeling it could be trouble, although I'm sure they work fine once you're used to it. when you say "standard shellholders" though, there's really no argument after that. money gets better I may just by the lyman anyway and pass the lee on to someone who deserves it because I haven't managed to break it yet!I actually had the chance to try the new Lyman and the lee ergo and I would choose the Lyman in a heartbeat. I can second what Big Bronco says here, I did my first reloading last year and I too had a hard time with the "feel" of the Lee Hand Priming tool, I somehow got some primers into the chute upside down and ended up trying to prime a case or two with the primer sideways in the pocket. The RCBS we have at the club felt better but I am looking forward to trying out the Lyman on Sunday. I just bought the Lyman Case Prep Xpress a few weeks ago and so far, I am digging it. Lyman seems to make some good stuff.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Get the Lee. I have the RCBS and I can't stand it…
The rods aren't long enough to seat the primer all the way, so I called RCBS and they had to send me another one but I still had to file away some of the handle to get it to seat even with the head. Plus, the Lee is the safer device. The RCBS unit point the case mouth right at your face while priming. The lee points away from you….Comment

Wow, that tool is nice but I think it's designed for competition shooters and the anal. For decades I used the Lee Hand Priming Tool. It worked great. It was cheaply made, but it worked. I then purchased a 21st Century Priming Tool, that is made of quality parts and sold my Lee tool on this site. My only derogatory comment about the Lee tool is the parts were not quality, but it worked for decades and they are still making the same tool and selling it for $25.00. I like the Century because it is made of quality machined parts, but it sells for $110.00.
