    Wax Bullets

Anybody here make or use wax bullets?

Seems like there's some good benefits; just primers needed, good practice.

Interesting, wish I had a basement, I might just buy me one. Didn't see a price on the website, anybody know how much they cost?

I know, if you have to ask...

What a croc. Honestly if you have to go buy a commercially made unit to make your own wax bullets, you should consider a different hobby:

It is good practice and fun too, but no need for that kind of investment

They work on rats up close.

I purchased 6 rounds of brass a bag of wax bullets as a kid.

As a kid I used two drill bits to make extra brass to fit a shotgun primer.

Other than quick draw or shooting a rat in a shed I found no other uses for them.

Used to make my own. Resize case, prime, shove case mouth into paraffin, wiggle to break it off. Wipe casing clean. Shoot. Clean bbl and chambers before shooting live rnds. This was in the 60's using a Ruger .30 cabine SA. Fun stuff.
                    YMMV

I have shot wax bullets that I made in a Lee bullet mold. I used a magnum pistol primer as the charge. They shot well out to about 30 ft.

I made some cast hot glue boolits, there was a thread on it a year or 2 ago. Hot glue, .38 cal 158 gr mold, .38 cases and magnum primers. I taped a paper target to a cardboard box and the box was like a bullet trap. Collect them and re-shoot

yep, used to do them that way myself, but for .357mag. Could make 'marker' bullets too, by melting out a little of the wax from the head and dripping in a little food coloring, then drop a small piece of wax into it and heat with a soldering iron. It would melt/float to the top forming a skin to seal the coloring into the 'bullet'.

At 15', they'd go through 1/2" plywood. Good for rats/mice that would try to get into the pet food storage out in the garage.

Have you heard of or tried glue bullets? I had a calgunner make me a bunch a while back, they work great and are reusable.

Hot glue sticks size just over .40. With a SPP they shoot fairly well with enough power to punch through one side of a cardboard box at about 10'. Haven't tried magnum primers.

Nice thing vs wax, you can reuse them.
