Santa Brought a Lee Classic Turret

My first press and most everything I need to load for my .357 and .223.
Pictured is her set up with my first 6 rounds produced - finished the first 50 today and cant wait to go shoot em tomorrow
3.0 grains IMR 700X under 148 WC and Winchester primers.
I expect they will be quite tame in my 6" S&W 686 - perfect place to start.
Looking forward to years of fun and extra shooting to come.

Love my Lee Classic Turret, I use it for 357 and 223 as well!
It's not the flaming ruins; it's that you lit the fire.

Congrats, and I think you'll find that press remarkably versatile. If I could have just one press, that'd be it.

The Lee Classic Turret is the unsung hero of the reloading world. Yea it's not blue but it is inexpensive and productive. I've used mine to make 10 of thousands of rounds and all I have had to replace was the little square plastic indexing part. I have heads set up for 9mm, 38Spc, 357Mag, 40S&W, 45ACP, and 223Rem. I also use it for depriming and resizing 30-30WCF, 308Win, 30-06Spr, and 45-70Gov, I love the spent primer catching system.

One thing I do for 233Rem is I deprime and resize then tumble to get the lube off. Then I unscrew the sizing die so that it won't resize but the deprimer pin will clean out the flash hole. The I reload as usual. Rifle cartridges are a pain in the butt.
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Congrats, you have an excellent press. I love my Lee classic turret. Once you get into the rifle rounds, it's best to remove the indexing rod and use it in single stage mode. You should also pick up the double disk kit and rifle charging die. Both are a worthwhile investment and will allow you to use the pro auto disk for your .223. Check pricing at a few places like Grafs, Midway, Natchez, FS Reloading, and Titan Reloading. You will need to trim the .223 cases so look at the Lee case length gauges and cutter too and look into extra turret heads for caliber you reload. Swapping turrets is fast and then switch from rifle to pistol in a few seconds and all of your dies are already set up and ready to go. You can store them in the round Lee die boxes.

0o0o0o and that is the good turret too!

But one thing that bugs me, what gives with the safety primer? Did they change it because it looks different then mine. I mean, yeah, mine is white, but that is for LP where yours is prolly set up to use SP so that is why it is black, but why does your arm look thicker/wider/different?

I also have mine on a quick release plate. You should consider getting a strong mount from inline fabrication now. I have heard they are night and day difference.

Looks like the picture is catching part of the C clamp he is using to hold it to his bench making the priming arm look thicker.

Definitely a great starter press, and even if you get something fancier someday being able to change calibers in a few seconds and knock out a 100 rounds is a wonderful thing.

Ditto on the above comments from other owners. I have one as well. Use it for 38, 44, 308 and 7.62X39.
works great -love being able to just swap out the turrets and indexing rod when loading rifle ammo.

I have one too. Lee customer service is great too. I do rifle shells (223 and 308) and as someone said they can be a pain. I broke a metal part on the press (the part that holds the handle in place). Without question they sent me a new one. Very cool.

I did make the mistake of getting rod powders instead of ball so I haven't used the auto loader. Look forward to when I use it up though.

                              Enjoy!
