I like PB for 12g shotgun, I have never used it for pistol and I think there are better powders for what you want to do. But yes you can use it for all the loads for the cal listed (IMR only goes to 130gr on 9MM)

I just started testing loads with PB with 9mm 115gr plated Xtremes. I had issues with cycling when loading 3.6, 3.8, 4.0. Would get FTE every few rounds. I loaded more ranging from 4.2-4.6 that I'll be testing soon and will try some loads with .45 plated soon too. Will post some info on the .45 soon.

Had this happen to me with PB and upped the load .2 grains and has been good ever since.

I use PB in 9mm with 115g Extreme plated. Works good and no problems to note...

Once you start loading and firing, please post your results, both good and bad. I've never loaded that powder before, but I'm always open to new powders, so I'm interested in what you find out. Besides, someone else may have the same question about that powder in the future, so your posting may help them out.

I use PB in several of my range loads, it works fairly well in most cases for practice/blasting type ammo. I haven't worked at getting a match load out of it.

My Browning HP was having trouble cycling 115gr plated Xtremes with loads similar to the above. I dropped in a 13# recoil spring and everything was golden.

I just started reloading and couldn't find any of the usually recommended pistol powders so went with the IMR PB. I worked my initial loads up from 3.5gr and 124gr PRN. Very weak and unable to cycle. Then worked up to 3.9gr with 1.148 OAL and my RIA 1911 9mm, XDM 3.8 9mm and CZ P01 work great with really good accuracy @ 7-10 yds. I don't have a chrono and haven't upped my loads since these are just target loads. If I can ever get a hold of any other powders I'd like to compare, but for now IMR PB works fine for my application. I'm no expert but I'd recommend and would purchase again.

For many years I have used PB in loads tailored for short bbl. .38 revolvers. 1179 fps using Sierra 110 gr JHC bullets from a S&W Model 337. According to the 80s vintage Sierra manual I used when I worked up this load it was not even +P.
It is accurate and does not show signs of excess pressure. I used an Oehler Model 33 chronograph with five foot sky-screen spacing to measure the velocity.

I just finished testing PB in my 45s

I used PB from 4.2 - 5.5 Gr increasing by .2 each step. Winchester LP Primers, Rainer Ballistic 230Gr. RN bullets and Mixed brass.

My Para Ord P-13 Functioned with all loads but felt real weak till I go to 5 Grs

My Sig 227 would not function till I got to the 5 gr loads

5.5 Grs felt the closest (Still a little weaker) to the winchester factory loads I had to compare my reloads to.

5 grs and up had the best accuracy too.

The Hodgdon website's load range was from 4.2 - 4.7 but I found some other load on the Load Date website that maxed out at 5.5 so thats where I stopped. Rainer Ballistic suggested using load date for lead rounds because there bullets are softer.

I think I'm going to stay with 5.5 for awhile.
