    Anyone recognize this headstamp?

Wife went buck wild picking up range brass and I found several .308 that I don't recognize. They also have this varnish coating and don't appear to be brass. Tumbler couldn't touch the varnish that's on them. I'm not going to reload these....

...because they are Steel .308 Russian or something else that can not be reloaded? Prolly even berdan primed?

Teach your wife how to ID BRASS cases vs other crap so she can better utilize her time grabbing brass.

No need to get all technical with her, just show her a BRASS case, show here ALL your brass cases, then point out, THOSE are what you want to pick up, WHEN in doubt, LOOK INSIDE, if you see a SINGLE hole in the middle on the bottom it is prolly good, if you see two little holes, then it is garbage and not worth picking up (unless you want to reload berdan). Then pull the cord and let her rip... My g/f picked up all kinds of crap at Steel Peake. I had to grab a sample of shells in the dirt and show them, it came down to, 1. Check for brass or shiny silver. 2. Look on bottom, if there is a primer, then move to step 3, if there is no primer, it is a .22 or 17 hmr and I do not care for them. 3. Look inside for one or two holes, ONLY save 1 hole shells. 4. Anything green, copper, or matte silver do not touch.

She picked up a lot of good brass that day.

Be glad ya have wimmins that'll shag brass for yer sorry azzes.

Let 'em have at it. You can sort when ya get home. Make sure they wash up before making yer sammiches, though.

You're a lucky guy, my girlfriend won't even pick up brass at an indoor range.

We prefer to pick up everything, even stuff left behind by others and sort at home. It's ok to pick up trash to throw away at home that others have left behind. Even measly little 22 cases as well as steel.

By all means pick up the 22's -- may HAVE to swage your own soon.
